Sorry I just threw up all over after hearing the baskeball game. I guess I expected more from the team that Durham said is quite possibly better than his 96 team.

I am in no way a knowledgable basketball person. But, it seems we have the individual talent. Is this a case of them not playing as a team unit yet?

i think so. and i think that our team lacks confidence in one another. from the fans perspective it seems like the guards never get the big guys involved. but from the team and coaches perspective, the big guys aren't showing that they are capable yet. i'm talking practices too. ted, almarvin, and even taylor aren't playing like they are capable. they are playing smaller than they are, and they lack toughness down low so far. so, until these guys step up, and brandon, ja'ron, casey, and the coaches are going to be hesitent to give them the ball. it seems that when they do, often bad things happen. on the other side of that, it seems like bad things are happening anyway(missed threes, free throws, and rebounds) so they better try to get others in volved because we wont win many just shooting(and missing) 100 3's a game.

What surprises me most about this bobcat team is that they were able to win so many games last year. Assembling a team that consist almost entirely of JC players and transfers and expecting them to perform as a cohesive unit is not realistic, especially when the guys they are going against have played together for 3-4 years. The fact that they were able to win so many games last year is really a testament to how weak the conference was.

I'm not so sure about that. I think they came together and played well last year after a rough start and no one should dismiss being picked last and finishing second. I don't think the Grizzlies were weak last year and we beat them 2 times out of 3, but lost to them at the end when they were on a roll. So this team has had time to adjust to each other over last year and the summer and so far in the season. Why they're not doing well is a mystery to me.

I wanted Durham fired four years ago on the MSU boards (ESPN and Bobcatnation.com).
My position has yet to change.
Wake me when more people realize this program lacks morals, stability, and is a general joke.

Morals?? Are you basing this on last years issue w/ Mr. Brown? If you are, I am calling

on that statement. That was ONE person and ONLY ONE persons' mistake, NOT the teams' or the coaches' mistake.
Now about the stability part, I agree.
I still feel that the biggest thing we are missing is a court leader, a Jason Ericson or Kenny Plummer type of a player. That is the one thing holding this team back, next to freethrow shooting.
I believe the inside game is there, but there needs to be an emphasis on running the set plays and running out the shot clock. If anyone watched the Gonzaga-OSU game on saturday, OSU stayed in that game because of their patience and good shot selection, and offensive rebounding. IHMO, the ball should not be shot until 20 seconds have run off the shot-clock, unless the opportunity for a wide open (and I mean WIDE open) shot exists (three, backdoor, lob pass), or if the team is on a fast break.

I have to agree with everything you said. Frank Brown was one person making a very poor decision, and he'll have to live with that for the rest of his life. I don't think the men's basketball program at MSU has a moral program. The coaching staff has been stable, but I guess player turnover is more than you'd like to see. The team is good enough to work on shooting and improve greatly in the next few weeks. After this weekend's game vs. Wyoming in Casper, the Cats play their next 8 games at home vs. D-I competition. So maybe they can get rolling during that stretch.

Get Fin ball to Fin Moss. He's the best big guy in the Big Sky and we never get him the ball. Establishing an inside game opens up the 3's not vise versa.
And how the H--l does Dissly start off as hot as he does and then we go away from him. We started off great and then came those G--D-mn mutliple substitution patterns and we let Green Bay back in the game.
God I am sick of Durham ball and have been since at least 2002.

I strike my 'MORALS' statement. The Frank Brown incident left a very bad taste in my mouth and I think the coaching staff skated by without accepting any responsibility. That said, I can't question the overall morality of the team.
I do stand by the stability post.
A clarificaton on the third prong of my rant. The program is a general joke, not the student-athletes representing MSU. I haven't seen anything but a season-to-season plan the past six years. The players being ushered in and out of Bozeman are just playing ball and going to school. It isn't their fault.
This is why you shouldn't post after a 4-hour XMas party on a Sunday night.

One year in the 90's we had to forget almost all of our wins. Does anyone remember why.
I believe it was because of an inelligable player but can't remember who or why.

You guys want Durham gone? Then you obviously don't want that Howard kid from Great Falls. This is the kid who all you say goes to the cat camp every year. Ties seem to be strong with Durham. This kid has turned GFH into a team like it was in the mid 90's. They are fun to watch. This would ruin the cats. So I say keep him.

Ponycat...regarding the forfeited games. There will be posters here who know more than me, but my recollection is thatthe problem involved power forward Greg Powell who attended some sketchy JC down south which provided its players with fraudlent grades/test scores. Powell's name came up during an investigationvduring his senior year and the Cats, as I recall, were forced to forfeit all of the games he played in as a junior. I think Mick had an assistant coach named White who may also have been involved.

I remember something like that. A player and an assistant coach hurt the program with that debacle. You get a bad apple, or in this case, a pair of bad apples from time to time. Yeah, the program record shows 1-26 for that year because of these guys. As a side note, these wins only count against MSU basketball's record, not Durham's record. But really, I can only think of 2 major problems (this one and Mr. F. Brown) during Durham's tenure.

Playing Devil's Advocate, how many other programs over the past ten years have had to forfeit most of their games in a season? How many have had a player rape a 15 year-old? How many have had this combination?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice...

Mick has been here for 16 (or whatever), so you can't just look at the last ten years when saying Mick has turned our program immoral.

Kramer has had more problems in 6 years than Mick in 16 years, do I hear anyone complaining about Kramer? Has Mick hired a coach that is in prison for selling drugs yet? Mick runs a good program period.

I think there were some other teams that had to forfeit games, like Georgia a few years back and maybe Baylor. They almost lost a season and were not allowed to play non-conference games at one point. Ohio St. and Fresno St. have also had problems lately. Stuff like academic fraud (Georgia) and booster payments to players, and so on. Baylor's situation was just horrible. So in comparison, MSU is not so bad. After thinking about it, the football team has had many problems in only 6 years. Good point.
