Not sure which area to start this topic.
For those who are unaware, Bozeman is getting an arena football team named The Big Sky Thunder. They will play their games at the Valley Ice Gardens. The season runs late winter through Spring.
They will be holding open tryouts on Dec 10. I know Travis will probably not play on this team, but it was a way to introduce the topic

I think he'll be in Canada before he is on Bozeman again. If he doesn't get drafted in the NFL I'm pretty sure he'll go play in the CFL.

We already know the Thunder is coming to Bozeman. I didn't know the exact Try-Out date though, so that was nice to know.

Here's our Big Sky Thunder thread I guess:
http://www.bobcatnation.com/bobcatboard ... php?t=4411
I still don't know what to make of it. Their name is the Big Sky Thunder-how many will think the community of Big Sky has a pro sports team? I don't think I've watched more than 5 minutes of indoor football on TV in my lifetime. It does look like a heck of a lot of fun to play.
If I was inclined to own some sort of minor league franchise in Montana I'd place it in Kalispell. That's the most underserved well populated market in Montana for sports-no college, no minor franchises, no Junior A hockey-etc.

Guarentee Lulay does not get drafted. Average height of NFL quarterbacks 6'3".4. Also, although Lulay is/was a great quarterback no team would draft him, he isn't a pure passer, look at college film of the quarterback from Harvard last year playing for the Rams, and you'll see what the NFL is looking for.

Agreed. He was a good college player, but not NFL material. Although I hope he proves me wrong.

He'd be a good punter. I see a team taking a shot at him on day two.

NFL teams only use the rugby punt in very limited situations, they would never have a rugby punter full time, they would have punts returned on them left and right due to the lack of air time. If you watch the NFL, they look for punters who get a serious hang time to limit the return. When was the last time a punter was taken in the draft? Teams don't draft punters, they are a dime a dozen.

You're "guaranteeing" that he won't get drafted? Guess I'll call up Harvard to get some game film. Cornbreadfed, me thinks you don't know as much as you'd like to think you do.

We took in a arena football game here in Billings, I thought it was a joke. That could be related to the fact Monte was the freak'n mascot! If Travis were to play I certainly would give it another shot.

I think Rick Gatewood is well suited to play indoor football. In the Arena League players play both ways, other than offensive and defensive specialists. Who knows, Gatewood might be a good Jack linebacker. But, I think he should play for the Thunder. In the NIFL the players only have to play one way and Gatewood's game would transfer well to the indoor game. Not only that, you guys could enjoy watching him for a few more games.

If Brent Swaggert and Roger Cooper can't get drafted, there is no way Lulay gets drafted.
I love the kid and would love to see him become a star in the league, but I think he has less than a 2% chane of being drafted.
Monte eats corn the long way.

totally depends on his work-outs. He needs help with mechanics, but I'll say this, the right QB coach could turn Travis into a superstar QB in the NFL. He's got all the other gifts...brains, feet, strength, height, speed, and he wins.
If Flutie can play, Travis can play.
Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

Well, Coop just signed with the practice squad for the Chargers. I know it's not on their regular roster, but at least he's trying to earn his own spot on the team!

Good point. Flutie was undersized, but has a lot in common with Lulay, the whole brains, feet, speed, and that "IT" people always talk about.
