:) We have clearly lost steam on this board. We are wondering about old players from yesteryear, rehashing all the old stuff, and wondering if Swogger is coming to MSU ( when we know he's long gone ).

Basketball is here, but there isn't the thunder :-^

It ain't even winter (technically) and we're longing for spring... something exciting please happen so we can have a life

If basketball only had no blood no foul rules. :) :) I'd be much more excited and apt to take part in discussion surrounding that topic.

I'd really like to see our bobcat athletics split into separate categories.

Lets just all fight with each other like they do on Egriz all year! That stirs up a lot of posts ;)

You big jerk Cardiac!! Those FREE tickets you gave me earlier this year were terrible seats. I expect better out of someone from the highline.

How was that for a start? :) :) :)

Do you guys remember the kids tearing down the goalposts after the Cat victory over the Griz, they were dressed like gangstas. We should tell them to pull their pants up and teach them to boo their team when we don't like the results (Did I cover everything that is wrong with our team

Could be due to the fact that our extremely hyped-up basketball team is playing like crap so far. I think all of us were pretty excited about our team going into the season, but the poor start they are having has taken all the steam out of the fans. At least, that is how I feel. As is typical with most Bobcat basketball teams, they have no inside rebounding presence, and our offense is predicated on hucking up threes with reckless abandon. Anyone else have that feeling of "here we go again"?

Against UNC, especially in the second half, our 3 point shot selection was perfect. 90% of them were wide open. I was impressed with our shot selection.

But we continue to completely abandon any sort of an inside game. Three-ball does nothing to promote team basketball, it takes our big guys out of the game and gets other guys moving around less. I'm certainly not saying we should never shoot the three, we obviously have some guys that can stroke it from deep. As a team, though, we need to learn better shot selection. Sometimes, you need to pass up a three when you have a big guy in position down low for an easy lay-up. Sure, you may get one less point, but the success rate will be far greater. I also think our big guys (Moss, Beye, and Morris) need to get more of an attitude down low. Those guys have a ton of talent, but we are getting pushed around in the key and settling for medium-range jumpers when they should be muscling their way for three-footers and/or a foul. Speaking of which, our abyssmal foul shooting has got to improve significantly.

Maybe that's why we don't go inside much

Good point, but I don't think our big guys are shooting most of our foul shots. I don't mind as much when big guys miss free throws, but I get pretty steamed when guards, who are supposed to be great shooters, consistently miss free throws. No excuse for shooting less than 70%, IMO. I don't think that is setting an unrealistic expectation level.

Free throws aren't as 'pretty' as a long bomb 3 point shot so they don't like to practice those as much anymore. I would make our players run their Azzes of under pressure shooting situations so show them that free throw shooting is a very key element of a game (and very much so at the end of a game when teams are trying to catch up).

I swear, all the players practice now are 3's and dunks. Mid range is pretty much gone anymore. I would have this team working on team game/fundamentals/free throws every day hard. We have shooting talent on this team, but it is way too open and selfish in my opinion (most of the time). There has been some glimpses of some good team play (2nd half of UNC), but most of the time it is relaxes pickup game type play in my opinion.

This should be an interesting game against Carrol. If we play like we did the first half againt UNC we will lose this game. Chucking 3's/no rebounding/no free throw shooting/missing bunnies underneath usually spells LOSS in big letters in hoops (I don't care what level you are playing against).

I too would like to see this forum SPLIT into Football and Basketball. I think people are being PC with all the other sports that want to be represented on this board.

Maybe we could list an "ET AL" Board as well for all the others, so that all who want football nonsense can go there, basketball nonsense can get it on their place, and all the "et al-ers" can get it on theirs! DONE 8)

We lost steam because football is over. No rumors or commitments to play football to discuss. Both our men's and women's basketball teams suck. How is the volleyball team doing?
