No kidding. Just wait 'til Appy State beats down Laugh-ay-ette, I think they will make the UNH-Colgate game look close. The Patriot League is terrible, they need to get their autobid taken away... and for damn sure they should never, NEVER get an autobid.

I don't necessarily think they should pull the Patriot League's autobid-anymore than they pull the Big Sky's for men's basketball. But when the second place team has a GPI in the 40's? That just goes to show the selection committee just goes through the motions.

But it wasn't us that got hosed-it was Youngstown State.

New Hampshire is proof that you don't need the big stadium to be successful. But why don't have more interest from their state. New Hampshire is what-the size of Gallatin County? With a population over 1 million. They should have more interest than that.

Please note; I did NOT say we were the ones who got hosed the worst.

But I do know that we'd beat both Colgate & Laugheryet.

I agree. Colgate looks like a D-2 team. How did they make the title game a couple of years ago? They lost to Delaware 49-0. The planets must have aligned just right that year.

New Hampshire on the other hand-looks pretty tough. I wish we had a running back like theirs. 5'11" 230 pounds.

That is one of the smallest stadiums I have seen in 1-AA. Looks like the St. Mary's stadium or almost any high school stadium. I guess that dispells the opinion that you need a nice stadium to recruit well.

The Texas State facility looks very nice. Their logo looks very similar to ours.

The problem, as many I-AA schools have, is that damn track around their field. The fans in the front row probably have to use binoculars to see anything. I still can't begin to understand why anyone would build a football stadium around a track? It's not like you need those thousands of seats to handle all the fans who pack the place for track meets. It really detracts significantly from the home field advantage, that is for sure. Otherwise, I agree that TSU's facilities do look very nice, better than most I-AA programs have.

I actually like their bobcat logo better than ours.

New Hampshire's looks a little like Northern Colorado and Eastern Washington without the new endzone bleachers. All have tracks-which as mentioned, puts the fans about a mile away from the action.

Now what about 2 years ago when Colgate played for the National Championship. Granted they got crushed in that game, but they still made it. Now aside from that, I think MSU got hosed by the NCAA. Lafayette had no business being in this tournament.

Youngstown had more of a beef than we did; 2 years ago, Colgate was 12-0 after the regular season - they would've gotten into the playoffs even if the Patriot didn't have an autobid.

Does anyone know the scholarship situation of Patriot teams? Based on what I saw today, I wonder if they offer as many as we do?

If not, they should not get an autobid until they make a COMMITMENT to football equal to the other schools/conferences in I-AA.

Based on the Colgate team I saw on ESPN2 today, it wouldn't surprise me to find that they don't offer as many scholarships.

Wouldn't surprise me either Gato, although the way UNH is playing right now, they would have made alot of teams look silly. They are my pick to win the whole thing right now.

From what I've heard from someone I know who plays a sport at a Patriot League school, they're one of two I-AA conferences that don't offer athletic scholarships. The Ivy League, who doesn't participate in the postseason, is the other.
