monitors, my post is mot meant to talk smack, but like many i see it going there and assume that it will be moved. but i do have a few more questions after reading the last 100 or so posts. they have to do with great quaterbacks, and the playoffs. while the two seem to go hand in hand, i am curious about something. for the most part, many of the griz have been very respectful to what lulay has accomplished during his career. that being said, posters such as bearbac, who is a given, always bring up the point that lulay is not good because he is not in the playoffs. using this theory, the only quaterbacks who are good every year are the ones who win championships. let's say that i agree with this, which i'm not sure that i do. we'll say that selle is the best in highschool. i assume this because there has also been much talk about how the better schools are always better. such as carrol being worse than um, which is worse than oregon, which is worse than usc type thinking. so really, i guess we could assume that whatever qb wins the 1-aa level isn't even the best in college because he plays "smalltime" ball. so leinart is the best in the country. while football in the nfl isn't quite over, we'll play years plassed and say that brady is the best. on a side note, remember when trent dilfer was the best qb in the nfl a few years ago? so i have this way of thinking in my head. now, i would never be one to take anything away from dd as a qb. just like many dont try to take anything away from lulay except for a few morons. but, if we assume that the highest level of football is the nfl, and nothing else matters, then we have to assume that the best qb to ever come out of the conference is jamie martin right? sure, he may not have won a national championship in the 1-aa ranks, but not many kids grow up thinking, "man, i don't want anything else in football except to win in chattanooga." and i guess i also have to think that there are not many poeple with dreams of playing in the cfl. so, the best qb's of all time have to be superbowl winners. then nfl starters, followed by nfl bench players. of course, these have to be in order by national championships won in college, 1-a. then starters in 1-a. after that, it is the players who won nc's at the 1-aa level. then all starters after that in 1-aa. after that, for simplicity, haha, lets just pool all the other nfl quaterbacks together who didn't play 1-a or 1-aa ball. now remember, that is just the guys in the nfl who have to be the best. now, i'm sure you guys get where i'm going with this. i mean, we still need to figure out all the best 1-a, 1-aa, and so-on quaterbacks who didn't even make it to the nfl. then all the qb's who couldn't win a championship because they clearly can't be the best. and after all the nc winners, then we can get into the guys who only made the playoffs 3 times, then 2, then 1 and the poor guys who never made the playoffs! this is going to take me a long time to figure out all the "best" qb's ever. luckily, i don't have to worry about pesky statistics, winning percentages, and supporting casts to figure these out because claerly they are insignificant. well, i better get started. yes! brad johnson...one of the best qb's of all time, and i mean before this year with the vikes!

see, you're helping me out. most would probably think that he was the best qb in the sec that year. but not me, i'm too smart. i know that if you don't have a championship, you haven't accomplished anything. for the sake of argument, can we just say that 1-a guys are good if they win a bowl game? because they dont have a playoff system and i just think that it's unfair that none of them can be considered any good because of this. and also, i may need help knowing what bowl game winners count as there are so many bowl games anymore. i dont want to make the mistake and take only leinart or vince young as my best. and you know what sucks? one of those guys is going to be no good, and a loser in the eyes of so many because he wont have a national championship. some would agree that there are other accoMlishementS bU....not bearbac and i. we my friends, are just too smart!BelgradeBobcat wrote:Whose the best quarterback in the history of Tennessee? Most would say Peyton Manning. But T Martin led the Volunteers to the national championship the year after Manning graduated.
Maybe Corey Carpenter is our T Martin??? Stayed tuned 'til next season.
