Some perspective for the 2005 Season

I'd like to post my summary of the 2005 season and the positives that came out of it.
1. The Bobcats were 6-0 at home in front of large, loud, and boisterous crowds. I think this was the best atmosphere that I've ever experienced at Bobcat Stadium. I remember games in 2000 when it seemed like I had several rows to myself. Now the games are being sold out and lots of fans are going. I couldn't ask for a better atmosphere.
2. Travis Lulay. He gave Bobcat fans lots of reasons to smile. He is a great player and a great person and it was my honor to watch him play. I knew there was something good in store in 2002 when I watched him nearly beat (and should have beat) Idaho St. in Pocatello to the final kneel-down against the Grizzlies. Thanks for the memories, Travis.
3. Bobcat team played well. I know this team had ups and downs, but it is sure great to expect your team to win every weekend, not just once in a while.
4. All of the great players. Lowe, Marudas, Force, Daly, Hunter, Grenfell, Austin, Mollohan, Gatewood, Murray, Guinn, Hastings, Bolton, all offensive line, Groves, and this list goes on. Thanks for playing a great season and helping MSU continue the climb to the top of the mountain.
There are a couple things that can be improved. Coaching consistency and the road record. If those two things improve, expect great things from this Bobcat team for many years to come.
And one more thing that is so great about 2005...
5. Hope for the future. I remember when Rob Compson left in 1998 and the mood was very somber. I had a similar feeling at that time. There was no reason to expect the Cats would do well the next year, and true enough, the program fell hard and was finally revived in the last 4-5 years. I don't feel the same way I did in 1998. Even though Travis Lulay has played his last game in the Blue and Gold, I feel that there are a lot of good players returning and next year should be a good one. Cory Carpenter will be a good quarterback.
So I think, as Thanksgiving approaches, we have a lot to be thankful for. Friends and family come first, of course, but also a very good football year for 2005. We didn't make the playoffs. That's sad. But we were 6-0 at home and got a big win over the Grizzlies. I wouldn't trade the Griz win for a playoff berth. So that's a little bit of summary for 2005. Go Cats!
