What is going on with the Basketball team? They went 0-3 in Alaska. Losing to Lamar 92-82. Are they overrated or have they just lost some confidence?

Overrated, somewhat.

They're not overrated when they play like a team instead of 5 individuals chucking up shots while wearing their shorts/capris/warmup pants (see: Casey Durham) Mick needs to get their crap together before they get into the BSC schedule.

I'm wondering the same thing... It was just a couple of years ago that I was watching MSUB put up 130 points (they used to put that many points on the board regularly) on that same Alaska-Anchorage team that beat us two nights ago.

Hopefully we just need to get the hell outta Alaska. But yes, disappointing to say the least.

MSLACAT please tell us everything will be okay!

An embarrassing performance in Alaska. They turn it over constantly, they miss freethrows with alarming regularity, and they can't hit an outside shot but they keep throwing it up there anyway.

This tournament should be a learning experience for the Cats. Free throw shooting is a big weakness, which is a surprise to me. Five years or so ago, the Cats led the nation in FT shooting percentage. A lot of these guys can shoot free throws, so what's going on here? Maybe a little practice would benefit greatly. Also, 3 point shooting should improve. It probably will, but maybe there needs to be less of an emphasis on 3 pointers when discussing shot selection. But getting out of Alaska will be the best solution. Also, I think we lost to Alaska-Fairbanks instead of Alaska-Anchorage.

The Bobcat's performance, or lack thereof, in Alaska is simply a measurement of the Big Sky Conference. Last year, Mick throws together a bunch of JC transfers and finishes second in the conference. This year they still might be the best team in the Big Sky, but what does that say about the conference? The main reason the team started winning last year is they started playing conference games. It will happen again this year. The Big Sky has fallen on hard times, top to bottom, in men's basketball.

I am pissed I can't stand anoter bad basketball team. I hope they can get it together real soon. This is the stuff that really gets me, we hear how great the Cats are going to be then they disappoint. The basketball team doesn't play any teams that should beat us this year with the exception of Denver and possibly Wyoming. In three games against bad teams we are 0-3. As was said by a wise man "ohh no we suck again."

I'm sure hoping their minds were on the CAT/griz game.
From what I listened to it sounded like the basket was lop-sided at our end of the court both halves.

I heard Al was teaching the rest of the team how to shoot free throws. What a greeat teacher he is! :D

This is going to be a VERY good team.

What a weekend!

I'm not sure if one bad tournament is a reason to fear doom and gloom yet. It is still early in the season, and this is a good learning experience for the team. I imagine that most of these guys were pretty confident about this season and maybe didn't think that these three games would be any sort of contest and they would just win going away in Alaska. The problems were exposed and they can be worked on in practice over the next week. The next game is against Wayland Baptist on Sun. Nov. 27, so there is lots of time to make adjustments and improve.

No heart, no toughness. Go 0-3 against inferior competition is absolutely pathetic and embarrassing. :bag:

These kids better be in a for huge shake up when they get back to Bozeman, Durham has his work cut out for him.

mslacat... what is going on? :?:

No kidding! I am so tired of this guard oriented selfish team....Until Mick gets away from the small shooting (gunning) lineup and starts to work with his inside game, they will continue to underachieve......this is getting to be a joke......Casey Durham, Ryan Holmes and/or Miller and Jefferson (who does belong at the #2) in at the same time.......give me a break! They have showed consistently the past two years they cannot win a close game down the stretch. When is this type of thinking going to stop! What players led them back against AL-Fairbanks before these players again could not hold a lead? Read the Chronicle on Sunday. I am annoyed with this continuous business.

P.S. It would certainly help if Dissly was given the ball more......he can shoot and is the team's best athlete.

:(

Not doom and gloom yet. But we do have a bracketbuster game and if we want to get on TV we need to be a good team. Being on ESPN will help the team and school a whole bunch. Not to mention it will be fun for students and fans.

Now I am in no way saying that we should compare our Mens' basketball program to the Bozeman Icedogs Junior A hockey team...

BUT... Just think about this:

The Bozeman Icedogs lost their first 3 games this season, and are currently on an 18 (that's right EIGHTEEN) game winning streak. Like I said, you shouldn't compare the two teams for obvious reasons, but you should just think about how this is the beginning of the Bobcat season... and you never know what might happen during the next ... 18 games!! The hockey team was able to get past a 0-3 start to their season, why couldn't the CATS??

Now lets get out there and show our support!!

Good point MSUCATS. The Icedogs are on a tear this season. Longest winning streak in all of hockey. GO CATS!
