Eastern Game
This game just got huge. The only chance Eastern has in the world to make the playoffs is to beat us. Plain and simple. Their season is on the line. They are playing what could be their last game of the season at home.
If we come into Cheney flat like we did against Weber or Cal Poly, we are going to get smoked.
This is going to be the single hardest game of the season.
On the flip side, we have something to be playing for as well. If we beat EWU, we are in the playoffs. Kramer needs to stress this point; we have to play like we absolutely need this win.

Re: Eastern Game
I like you confidence but winning this game doesn't guarantee a playoff bid. If you win this I really do like your chances w/the tough OOC schedule but soooo much crazy stuff has happened this year in I-AA you could get left behind in favor of Coastal Carolina or Cal Poly. Just my 2 centsCelticCat wrote:This game just got huge. The only chance Eastern has in the world to make the playoffs is to beat us. Plain and simple. Their season is on the line. I know many will be surprised by my statement, but the EWU game may be BIGGER than the Cat/Griz game as far as PLAYOFFS go! (I know...we all hate the griz and would much rather beat them than EWU if we could only win one of the two remaining games. Here is the scenario if we only beat:
1) EWU: Beating EWU and losing to the Griz would give the hated GRIZ the conference title, but we would definitely be the #2 team in the Big Sky. We could be tied with Weber (if they win at Portland St on Sat nite), but with our schedule and win over Weber, we would be the clear #2 choice. It is possible the committee took take only one from the Big Sky, but this conference is too highly regarded for that I believe.
2)the Griz: If we lose to Eastern and then win the BIG GAME, we will all be celebrating that night and hooping and hollering, but it could come crashing down Sunday morning when the bracket is revealed. It is very possible (I will say probable) that while Eastern would get the automatic bid by virtue of the tiebreaker, the committee would probably choose the 8-3 Grizzlies and their 23,000 seats over the 7-4 Bobcats. We would all be furious, but the committee picks the at-large teams. They WANT to pick our hated rivals. I guess there is a chance that 3 teams could get in like 2003, but that is a long shot this year.
how about we just beat them both and win our third Big Sky championship in 4 years!!! Go Cats!!

Re: Eastern Game
We do have absolute NEED to win. The season rides on THIS game, not the Griz. The Griz will not beat us IF and when we win. The only way to win this next game is to come in desperate for the win. Anthing less and we lose.CelticCat wrote:This is going to be the single hardest game of the season.

When we beat EWU, we will beat the Griz the week after that (in our house). Our fans will take care of the Griz game and our boys will be ready and have something to play for this year in the Brawl.
We just need to RELAX (like we did this last week) and play our game/have fun. Use the swarming D like last week to pump up our players and show them that with 11 guys out there they can pummel teams if all 11 hustle/do their jobs. Every player on this team needs to take it one play at a time and HUSTLE so that if one guys misses, there are 2-3 there to blast him for negative yardeage. We are healthy now so the guys on the DL can give it all they have an not have to conserve some as well. We now have a 2 man rotation on the DL which is HUGE.

I am not an expert on the fundamentals of football. But this last Saturday I was so impressed with the Cats I think we can go all the way.
The D was not allowing the bend dont break, rather we will not bend and we will not break. Evin Groves, what can you say, he should be offensive player of the week! And to think we have 3 more years with this guy, wow! The O line was outstanding, it was nice not to see Lulay busting his butt for this team and allow him to do the job that a QB should do. Special teams, ya we had problems but Fuller really had some nice returns. Overall it was a great team effort, nobody in the Big Sky would have stood a chance against this team last Saturday.
IMO, Kramer will work on special teams this week and we will see some great improvement. Other weakness, did not see very many, just a well balanced football team.
Unlike the Griz, we do have an offense and they very well could be the best in the Big Sky.

Actually the statement was we don't have an offense, not your offense was better than ours. I wouldn't have said anything. Nice job on taking out our D-II game and your D-I game and leaving Oregon #11 in the BCS in the equation so it can be even. Why don't you try comparing teams we have both played instead? "In my speak" we score more points than you do when you compare common opponets. A lot of those points are sp. teams and defense, I'm not saying you don't have a better offense. I'm saying we also have an offense no matter how sluggish it can be at times.lets take out preseason numbers here so that they can be all even...

How do you plan on going "all the way" when the majority of the playoff teams run almost exclusively and the Cats can't stop the run?But this last Saturday I was so impressed with the Cats I think we can go all the way.

Sure it is, in that light, the Griz/Suc St. game is more important than Griz/Cat as far as the playoffs go, if the Griz beat Suc, they're in win or lose against the cats.Catdad39 wrote:I know many will be surprised by my statement, but the EWU game may be BIGGER than the Cat/Griz game as far as PLAYOFFS go!

So the strategy is the same for the 2 teams tied for the conference lead. Win. Then the circle is drawn in Bozeman the following week and all the marbles are brought out and shot.Re/Max Griz wrote:Sure it is, in that light, the Griz/Suc St. game is more important than Griz/Cat as far as the playoffs go, if the Griz beat Suc, they're in win or lose against the cats.Catdad39 wrote:I know many will be surprised by my statement, but the EWU game may be BIGGER than the Cat/Griz game as far as PLAYOFFS go!

I'm not talking smack, just asking a question about going all the way. I don't care how you do it if you can answer the question, apparently you can't. He said Cats are going all the way after the way they looked against Suc. St. Great, we crushed Ft. Lewis this year, I guess we're going all the way too. He's entitled to his opinion, I'm just curious what Sac. St proved as far as the playoffs are concerned.ok...now is it more clear...or do i have to space out running game and defense for you also????? or can you pick up on it all by yourself??? duh!
