TEAM NOTES
When the Bobcats forced NAU to punt on the game’s opening drive it stopped a string of two straight games in which MSU’s opponent scored on the games first drive

The Bobcats scored on their final possession of the first half, and on their final second-half possession

Montana State has turned 13 opponent turnovers into 62 points this season, a total which could have been higher except that Aaron Papich fumbled his return of an NAU fumble at the Lumberjack six yard line Saturday

The Bobcats have allowed three defensive scores this year, but Montana State’s defense has scored twice

After intercepting only 10 passes last season, the Bobcat defense has picked off eight opponent passes through eight games of ‘05

Montana State has finished only one game positive in turnover margin this season

Montana State has allowed 112 first-half points this season, but only 82 points after intermission

In spite of allowing an average of only 10.3 per second half this season, the ‘Cats have been outscored in five of the team’s eight second halves

Montana State has drawn four of the nine largest crowds in school history for opponents other than Montana this season

By the end of the 2005 season, three of Montana State’s four largest single-season attendance figures will have come during Travis Lulay’s career

Montana State recorded eight touchbacks in the first four games, none in the last four

The only punt Montana State has forced in the last two second halves came in Northern Arizona’s first third-quarter possession last week

Montana State averages 13,527 fans at its home games this season, 104.1% of its capacity, the seventh-best such figure in the nation this season

MSU has scored in its last 11 trips into the red zone (inside the opponent 20), dating back to a Travis Lulay interception against Weber State

After holding its first six opponents to below their previous season scoring average, the Bobcat defense has failed to do so in the last two games

MSU scored on its final possession on which it didn’t intentionally allow the clock to expire of each half against NAU

The Bobcat offense has turned the ball over inside the opponent five yard line on the first possession twice in the last three games

INDIVIDUAL NOTES/PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEES
OFFENSE: QB Travis Lulay, 6-2, 205, Sr, Aumsville, OR

Montana State’s All-America quarterback threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday’s 29-22 win over Northern Arizona. Lulay was the game’s leading rusher with 89 yards. He led MSU on a 71-yard game-winning scoring drive, capped by an eight-yard pass to Michael Bass with 2:48 to play. OTHER NOTES: Travis Lulay moved up the Big Sky Conference record lists on Saturday, jumping into fourth in total offense (11,415) and seventh in passing (10,100). He also moved into 10th in I-AA history in total offense (11,069) and 16th in passing (9,843)… Rick Gatewood caught five passes for 100 yards, his second straight 100-yard game and his third in the past four outings… Gatewood moved into 8th in school history in receiving yards (1,576) and receptions (110), and 6th in touchdown catches (13)… Tramaine Murray failed to catch a pass for the first time this season… Lulay led the ‘Cats in rushing for the second time in the last three games.

DEFENSE: LB Mac Mollohan, 6-0, 205, Sr, Kalispell, mT

Mac Mollohan registered 13 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss and one sack, against Northern Arizona Saturday. He forced a fumble and broke up a pass, as well. OTHER NOTES: Toph Grenfell led the Bobcats with 13 tackles, and had two pass breakups… MSU broke up eight NAU passes and intercepted one other

SPECIAL TEAMS: QB Travis Lulay, 6-2, 205, Sr, Aumsville, OR

Travis Lulay punted three times, averaging 49.7 yards a punt. He nailed a long punt of 62 yards, and pinned NAU inside the 20 once. OTHER NOTES: Jeff Hastings hit his first two field goals to tie an MSU school record with six straight before missing a 48-yarder... Hastings’ 12 field goals this year is two shy of the MSU single-season school record… Kory Austin returned two punts for 57 yards… Austin’s 36-yard return was the longest by a Bobcat this season.

The only punt Montana State has forced in the last two second halves came in Northern Arizona’s first third-quarter possession last week

Quite plainly, this must be corrected before the EWU and Cat/Griz games.

That is an incredible statistic.

The article says that MSU is 7th in the country in attendance and the BSC press release says we are 14th. That is a big difference.

That sucks that Wes Mauia is out for the season. Too bad.

Nope. He played on Special teams and even came in a few times as a backup LB on D.

I must have been smiling for the camera when he came in. How did I miss him? He's a big guy with big hair :)

I guess I thought he was red shirting when I heard Krames say that he wasn't ready yet.
