"The Bobcats have adopted a "Rise to the Brand" motto - a nod to the old west which tells the players to work toward something larger than themselves."
Rise to the Brand?

Nice try Craig, it's Ride for the Brand.

Here's the way Craig sees it (my comments are in parenthesis):
1. Montana (UM is as good a guess as any. There clearly isn't a clear-cut favorite. If UM can win some tough road games it could happen.)
2. Eastern Washington (This is a really good example of the parity in the league going into the season (I say going into, because someone may blow everyone away). EWU looked about the same as MSU last year, but the Eagles are 2nd and MSU is 8th).
3. Northern Arizona (The coaches and media took NAU #1, but third is just as likely. NAU doesn't return a lot of starters, but the ones returning are very good.)
4. North Dakota (The trendy pick to finish high this year, but if Santiago has a sophomore slump (did Cal Poly leave a blueprint in the final game?) UND could fall to the bottom half).
5. Weber State (This is my trendy pick and I won't be surprised one bit if they're in the hunt at the end of the year).
6. Portland State (The fact that they're picked this low is good reason to think they'll have a big year again).
7. Southern Utah (Never underestimate the heart of a champion, so like PSU picking them this low is all the more reason to think they'll be strong again. The T-Birds return a lot of players and get some more in from injury and missions).
8. Montana State (A lot of people think MSU being picked low in the polls takes the pressure off the Cats. I disagree. There's always pressure to win at MSU, as it should be).
9. Cal Poly (I'd never pick these guys this low, but this is exactly where they finished last year. One of the four teams, along with MSU, ISU and EWU, that suffered through disappointing seasons last year).
10. Sacramento State (Now we're getting into the teams that would be surprised is they finish in the top half of the league and one of them probably will).
11. Northern Colorado (The Bears are coming off a 6-5 season, but they played a very weak schedule).
12. UC Davis (I keep waiting for these guys to get into the mix and I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet).
13. Idaho State (ISU went from 7-4 and the trendy pick to 2-9 and of their nine losses only one was close).

Southern Utah (random note)- I feel like they will always be solid going forward, mainly because the average age on that team seems to be like 26...

A good chunk of em do not even start their freshman year until they are 20 because of the missions.
