Unfortunately, Mr. Taito was in the police reports this week. It appears that he got an MIP.

I saw that. Honestly, who cares? I never got an MIP, but that is only by the grace of God. I'm not naive enough to think that football players don't like to drink just as much as the rest of us. MIP's don't really bother me, although I hope he learned his lesson about keeping a lower profile. Things that bother me would be DUI's, rape, and coaches dealing meth.

I know he learned a more "expensive" lesson then I did when I was under the legal limit

If it was a campus MIP it would only be 75 dollars for the first offense, but if it was in the police reports it most likely wasn't.

Yeah, it was of the $160 variety. Honestly, I am not of the belief that 21 should be the legal drinking age, but that is me. We Montanans believe things a bit differently than some other folks.

I never got an MIP. :) Though I was certainly in enough situations where I could have.

Ya, I have a problem with 18 year olds over risking their life for their country but can't come home and have a beer. But, this is probably for a different thread.

I see your point BC, but what I care about is what the hell was he doing drinking during the football season. I know it happens, but give me a break Taito! I wonder just how much he is dedicated to this season if he's out drinking in the middle of the week.

I have been invited to a few post game parties at players homes. They almost all drink pretty hard on Saturday nights.

I know, I am not naive to college life... I would have been one of them whooping it up at the same party. But football players, athletes in general should be holding themselves to a higher standard during their season of play. Why was Taito the only one with the MIP? If this was some big "house party" then multiple members of the football team would have ended up in the police report.

I know players drink during the season, but I dont condon it one bit. You have a bigger responsibility to your team than to be out painting the town after a game or in the middle of the week. I think this is unacceptable, and honestly, I wouldnt fault Kramer if Taito didnt make the Portland trip.

Come on, these are college kids. I agree that football players need to keep in mind that they have a higher profile in the community, and it looks bad on the program when their name ends up in the police blotter. But give them a break. I wouldn't trade some of those parties I went to as a freshman for anything, I don't think it is fair to demand that they forego their entire college experience just because they play football.

As I said, a kid getting an MIP doesn't bother me one bit. I am slightly less-forgiving (ahem) when DUI's, drugs, and sexual misconduct are involved.

I am not trying to agrue with you, I wouldnt trade the good times I had at those parties either. What I am saying is that during the football season (not the whole college year), these guys should be better disiplined. I know they will still drink, and maybe Isaiah just ran into some bad luck or something, but during the season players should be more careful about this sort of thing.

I dont want to crucify the kid, it was simply an MIP - I had 2 in my day, one of which was guilt by association  But during the season the kids shouldnt be putting themselves in this position.

prof;

Do you have a copy of the police report...I didn't see it and was wondering where specifically Isaiah got his MIP.

Torry,

I was reading it at work and I believe it was in Thursday's paper. It was in the court docket part which is located next to the police reports and the schedule for AA, and other such groups. It was in the middle of the page I do believe. But there is no doubt as to its authenticity (unless they have one of the sports writers doing court dockets now and he was thinking about football at the time).

Because this was in the court docket though, it probably means that this happened about two weeks ago or so. Just a thought.

FYI if he even had one beer, he could get an MIP. Nobody is claiming that he was piss-a@@ drunk. Maybe he was having a beer outside and a bike cop rolled up, they are bery sneaky. :)

The exact thing happened to me. I came home from work, cracked a beer, went outside to talk to a neighbor that was having a party, took one sip and the po-po came around the corner and gave me a MIP. The kicker is that it was a week away from my twenty-first b-day. :hot:

The law is the law. I am sure those Bozeman police would have given you a ticket if it was an hour before you birthday. :x

Can I get a witness?

Poor Taito, everytime we post, his name rises back to the top. He's probably wanting this to die a QUIET DEATH. :-$
