The radio broadcast from Old Chicago last night was interesting.
Kramer discussed the DL a little. That they are short (the number of players there) thus causing them to play the ones they have more (less rest).
That Rogers is actually undersized for a DL in the 3-5, but is playing much more because of injuries. It will be good when Kolone is back.
The problem with the run in the first half last week was that a DE and a LB were going to the same gap and leaving an open area. The adjustment was where the DE was going and results were much better.
That Siataga is a key to the defense and playing better and better each game.
It was interesting that in the 3-5, Kramer said the DL does NOT make a lot of plays. Their job was for the DEs to tie up the tackles and the NT to tie up the center. The LBs make the vast majority of the tackles and they simply out run the offensive guards. If it's working right, the safeties do not make a lot of tackles either. It's the LBs.
His parting words was for the rest of the season, we are going to start with the pass and end with the pass. (focus is passing not running).
If I caught something wrong, please give what you heard.

It seems to me the Cats have the most sucess running the ball by setting it up with pass first. Make the defense drop guys into coverage, then run right up the middle with delays or draws.

I think that is about right.
They will probably setup the run by passing. I don't think they will run for 150 yards (unless Lulay does draws because the DBs and LBs fall back in deep drops).
I think it just means they understand they pass better than run at this point and they will not loose sight of that just to show they can run the ball.
The other teams are trying to run to keep Lulay off the field. Should we run to minimize what Lulay does best?
And I agree, Groves is earning his time (which is Kramer's way)
