The Big Sky Conference has announced its football Players of the Week for games played on Saturday, Oct. 8. The Offensive Player of the Week is Montana State quarterback Travis Lulay. The Defensive Player of the Week is Montana safety Torrey Thomas. The Special Teams Player of the Week is Montana State kicker Jeff Hastings.

Lulay, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound senior from Aumsville, Ore., rolled up 425 yards of total offense and rallied the Montana State Bobcats to a 27-24 victory over Weber State. Lulay rushed for a career-high 142 yards on 18 carries and scored two touchdown in the fourth quarter as he engineered his 10th career second-half comeback. Lulay scored on a 31-yard run on a fourth-and-seven play with 11:04 remaining to cut Weber State’s lead to 24-17. He tied the score with 4:41 to play on a 1-yard plunge. In the fourth quarter, Lulay rushed for 77 yards and passed for 80. Lulay hit Tramaine Murray for a 19-yard gain with four seconds remaining to set up the game-winning field goal. Lulay finished 18-for-41 for 283 yards. Lulay has been selected the Offensive Player of the Week six times in his career. Earlier this season, he was named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Thomas, a 6-foot, 190-pound senior safety from Dillon, Mont., tallied seven tackles and intercepted a pass in No. 4 Montana’s 32-10 victory over No. 25 Idaho State. Thomas registered a team-high five solo tackles. Thomas intercepted Idaho State QB Matt Hagler at the Montana 5-yard line in the third quarter. This is Thomas’ first Big Sky Player of the Week Award.

Hastings, a 5-9, 180-pound junior from Long Beach, Calif., made a 39-yard field goal as time expired to give Montana State at 27-24 victory over Weber State. Hastings also connected on a 37-yard field goal to tie the game 10-10 with 52 seconds remaining in the first half. Hastings had a perfect day, nailing all three of his extra points to finish with nine points. This is Hastings’ first Player of the Week Award.

Everybody is a little itchy about Lulay, but he still wins POW. That's not bad. Meyer had a great game, too. Hastings has made a big difference this year. He's accurate on short kicks. Most, if not all, of his misses are either blocks, bad snaps or real long.
