Verbal only commits the school, does not commit the player.
The school has offered a scholarship and the verbal locks it in. The school can actually back out, but they tend to never do that because it is used against them by other schools in recruiting then (major black eye).
The player can change his mind and say, sorry, but. He can then verbal to another school and do the same thing. There is no real commitment by the player. It's just a smart move by the player incase they have an injury during the remainder of the season.
The player is only truly committed when they sign the letter (in Feburary).
The school cannot annouce that a player has verbaled. Typically the player calls newspapers and tells them. The player is free to tell people and the papers can run articals. But the coaches will still say nothing.

So maybe Welsch should pick up his phone and make a long distance call to Billings.BobcatLionFan wrote:Verbal only commits the school, does not commit the player.

Wasn't Seele a singer back in the 90's?raincat wrote:Whose Seele?

If I was a stud quarterback I think MSU would be pretty attractive. We have 2 junior quarterbacks for next year-so after a redshirt season he'd have a chance to be the starter for at least 3 years. And if our two Jr.s don't pan out maybe sooner (as it was with Lulay).
The griz seem have their quarterback set for the next 3.5 seasons.

Totally agree. MSU should be a very attractive place to play if I was a QB coming out of high school this year. Could be 3-4 years of playing time in a spread type offense. What is not to like? Selle would be making a very smart choice to verbal to MSU if he wants a very good long/career throwing/running the rock!BelgradeBobcat wrote:If I was a stud quarterback I think MSU would be pretty attractive. This of course is why I asked the question. I have no reason to doubt the rumor that I heard, but no reason to believe it either. Just wondering if others had heard it too.mslacat wrote:Emailed a couple friends in Bozeman who are generally in the know. Needless to say I got a few people a little exicted, but no one could confirm, or even aware if we were close to a commitment. If I hear anything I will pass it along

I also heard from a source that the Larson kid from Cut Bank gave a verbal to the Cats. I know he was at the Idaho State game. He is 6'4" around 200 has a gun. Free safety also... seems a possible at QB or tight end wit his speed. Anyone else heard anything...?

These would be two very quality MT gets for the Cats! I hope this is true.
