And a lot of Bobcat nation thought that Weber wasn't any good and gave the Griz a bunch of isht because how close Weber played the Griz.... Guess Cat fans now know that Weber is better than most think. Last minute field goal to win... hmmmmm
By the way, the Griz are kicking ISU's ass... hmmmmmm maybe this says something about the better team . I'll let y'all hash it out as I know you will...
One nice thing, If the Griz "hang on" for a win, the U of M and MSU are the only undefeated teams in the BSC....

It doesn't really work to point out the aburdity of the argument that UM sucks as compared to MSU because they should have lost to Weber at home, and then turn around and try to apply that same logic using ISU as the barometer. I think what you were trying to say was ... both UM and MSU are undefeated in conference, have both beaten the same teams, and both look pretty even right now. Only a head to head game will show who is really the better team.
It appears that UM has also found a quarterback who can put point on the board. That's a huge positive for the fate of their season.

Very astute observation BAC... just bringing some "Cat" logic I see on egriz back to ya... you are absolutely correct in that my main point is that the boys from the State of MT (Cats and Griz) are ties for first. I am a Griz fan first and a Cat fan second.... A win is a win even an ugly one like last weeks Griz win over Weber....

I picked the griz to beat ISU.
ISU is going to be a nice spoiler for both Montana schools once they put the wheels back on the cart

If either team is happy with their respective performances against an average Weber State team they are fooling themselves.
As for comparative scoring, the only thing that matters is the head to head match-up. The 'Cats will see you guys in Bozeman; relax, it is still over a month away.
I'm just not a big Daisy Chain fan. Let's leave that for 1-A. I mean, I could point out that Weber had 100 yards less in offense against MSU than against UM, or that Pizzarro (sp?) only completed ONE PASS in the second half, but that would be comparative, right?

Papa,
I agree. The 'Cats have found a way to win this season and the Griz have found a way to win this season.
I was cheering for the Bengals to win, but congrats to both teams for their "W".
It has been already and it's going to continue to be a very interesting season in the Big Sky

I am one poster who never predicts games, because when you are wrong, you look like a dumbass... ANY game in the Big Sky can go ANY way at ANY time. This league is just too unpredictable. I still think 5-2 wins the conf. championship though... BTW Weber is a WAYYYY better team than their record states...
We were lucky to win today. We should not have won this game, and I hope all the players realize this. We played like sh!t on both sides of the ball. Even Lulay (God bless hm) did not play up to snuff. Granted, 2 of the 3 picks weren't his fault, but the one DEFINATLY was. This team can play a lot better than this, and I think alot of the problem falls on the coaching staff. Our guys are not very well disciplined, which shows by the 11 penalties we racked up. A couple of those penalties were because of the smoke and mirrors BSC Refs, but still. Personal fouls are unneccesary and must be stopped if we are to beat the rest of the teams on the schedule.
Okay, im on a

and will stop now

God bless Lulay is right. He is the MAN! He was unbelievable in the 4th quarter. On that 3rd down were Lulay jumped for it, I was amazed (I bet he could clear 7ft in the high jump). Some pretty darn good defense too, near the end. Marudas was again huge. Kudos to Fuller and Grenfell.
Weber was better than I thought, but we are making things pretty hard on ourselves. I hope we can gain a little discipline, and play with more consistency. Our guys respond though when our backs are against the wall.
Lulay is unreal.

Our game plan for the rest of the year: Use up as much clock as possible and keep the other team pinned near their own end zone until the fourth quarter. Then win!

Every one keeps saying we should not have won this game. That ignores the fact that we had two inteceptions and a dropped pass in the end zone. Instead of gaining 21 points we score 3. It could easily have been 21-10 cats at half time and if it is, we blow them out. This was not because of Weber playing well but our poor execution, dropped balls, and penalties. That is a lot different scenerio than the Griz win were they could only move slowly on the ground. Were not in scoring position much, and a dropped pass won it for them. Their defense was great when it needed too. I still don't understand the comments of us not deserving the win.

Because we played like a high school football team for 3 quarters.

And as you said, it wasn't Weber who was beating us so much as the Bobcats beating us. We played horrible and didn't deserve to win, but we did.

teton,
My take on it is that we did just about everything possible to not win the game.
There is no way you should win a game when you do these things:
1)Three INT's
2) over 100 yards in penalties; a lot of them in very timely situations
3) don't score in the red zone three times
Am I happy we won? You bet! But, what concerns me is that this is our "Lulay Swan Song Year". With the weopons we have on offense, It doesn't seem out of the question to put a thumpin' on teams that are what I would consider mid level. I am going to be very happy when we get Mollohan, Lowe, and Kolone back on the "D". Oh yeah, and Bass too!

You do not get into the red zone as much as we did playing like a high school team. Lets give them credit for the positive things while whipping them for teh stupid mistakes. Mistakes can be fixed and won't happen every game. Poor play and not moving the ball needs a lot bigger adjustment.

I think my criticism stems from the optimism I have for this team this year. Did they play hard? Dam right! But, I've come to realize that just playing hard doesn't cut it if you want to be a championship team. Execution has to be a part of the equation. Part of this execution has to come inside the red zone. Whether it's an offensive lineman not false starting, Travis making the correct audible, Justin hitting the hole hard, or Ricky holding onto a touchdown pass, execution at times was not there.
I hope these things will improve because they need to.

Our D line had very little penetration, and our offensive line was being pushed around as well. These guys seem to be very tough with the 12th man at home, and slow & weak on the road. Why? Are they as tired as they looked? We we simply outmatched today? What the **ll is up?

I think good teams find ways to win. I don't think you get lucky. I still think that Weber team is better than everybody is giving them credit for. I think the Cats got out played today at the line of scrimmage. Weber ran all over the place on O and their QB was rarely pressured. On the other side of the ball the Cats couldn't run and Lulay was pressured quite a bit. That being said, Cats had some huge drops and picks that could have cost the game, but they kept it close and found a way to win in the fourth. Not every game is going to be a blow out and a win is a win. Congrats.

Doubtful. ISU is now officially in their annual implosion period.

Indeed. It's taken a few years, but now the Cats find a way to win.
It's a good thing that Weber doesn't know how good they are. They were perhaps 30 seconds from 3-0 in conference.

We should have beat this team by 17+ points. But that is football. TO's and penalties will kill you. We need to get the PF calls cleaned up (especially the facemask penalties) .. way too many of those that end up sustaining drives. We play sloppy it is going to be a another close game and it was.
Mark my words, there will be one game this year where we put a beating on someone when everything is clicking. You can see that offensive machine starting to gel now (2 of those 3 picks weren't Lulay's fault). Ugly game, but I'm glad we won. Good teams win the close games. Lulay was flat out THE MAN.
"Sky Rockets in flight" ---> LULAY for the first down!
