Basketball recruiting tid bits

*************** Rumor Alert **************
Remember everything I post hear should be looked at with a healthy dose of skeptisism.
- I believe we will/do have basketball recruits in town this weekend.
- I hear from a guy I know that in the JC ranks that right now PJ Owsley is only getting recruiting interest from Weber State right now. If he signs early (November) It will be with Weber. The main reason for this is that no one knows anything about PJ. That could change if he has a good year of course. Right now according to jucojunction.com, he is considered the 3 or 4 best big man recruiting prospect on Salt Lake Community College. Weber is recruiting him mainly on the strength of a big game he had against them as a true freshman on the Bobcat team. Being in Utah doesn't hurt either.
- I hear that the Bobcat recruiting has shifted from high school players to JC forwards with the commitments of the two Oregon high school players.
- Our two high school commits PG Corey Davis and C/F Travis Derochowski have played together the last two summers on an AAU team called the Portland Panthers. They know each other pretty well on and off the basketball court.
- Corey Davis is listed everywhere from 5-9 to 6-0 I believe he is most likely 5-10. Perfect size to play small forward
- Michael Taylor 6-3 guard from Washington I mentioned earlier. About a week and a half ago I heard he was strongly leaning towards Montana State. Earlier this week in an Interview his coach/ father said in an interview that MSU was out of the picture if he signed with a Big Sky team it would be Eastern Washington, otherwise it looks like UC-Irvine, Texas Christian or St. Mary's.
- Ernest (Pooh) Williams a 6-3 G/F has said he will chose most likely between Montana and Utah State.
- Kyle Coston is the only other High school guy we were looking at (and there are likely others) but I have not heard what he is up to for a couple weeks.
- I just read a ranking list, on Northwesthoops.com of the top prep high school seniors in Washington. At the top of the power forward list Jack Loofburrow , Eisenhower high school 6'-8", 14.0 pts./gm. Jack played (actually still plays) on Braden Johnson's team In Yakima. As far as I know he is not signed or committed to any school yet. Being #1 at any position in Washington will usually get you to a Pac-10 school or better
********* Big time Hype ************
***** Take With a Grain of Salt *******
- Both Davis and Derochowski played in a "pick-up game" with the team. A booster who was there claims "they both could play this year” and "Travis Derochowski will be freshman of the year next year"
********* End of Rumors *********
******On to Mslacat Opinion *******
I am not that thrilled with the possibility of a class of 2 High school Kid and 3 JC guys. I know we lose Beye, Moss, and Pratt on the front line, but still would prefer it if we took a chance / risk with Chawn, Travis and Branden, being able to contribute next year. Personally I would like to recruit one more high quality high school kid. That said though, I really think the coaching staff is feeling the pressure from the boosters / fans to continue the winning ways, and the coaches do not want / risk a let down. At they very most I think we will sign/fill a max of 4 out of 5 available scholarships this fall, unless we get commitments from 5 cannot miss type recruits. This will allow Durham and company to make an adjustment to recruiting priorities once he sees the current players on the court this year.
Hell I thought I was going to only post three quick things and 45 minutes later look at me.
