Cats/Bison predictions

Post by Cat-theotherwhitemeat » Mon Sep 19, 2005 10:42 am

I think the Cats played their worst game in recent memory last weekend and will practice this week with more focus and determination. They have too much talent to have two bad games in a row. I think the Cats win a sqeaker at home against a very tough NDSU team.

Cats - 37
Bison - 34

I think NDSU wins this one by 7. This will be a hard fought battle that will pit the Bison D against Lulay and the Bobcat O. This game will turn on whether or not NDSU can get into the backfield and rattle Lulay. If Lulay has time to connect to his receivers, NDSU could be in for a long day. However, if NDSU can rough up Lulay, the Bison will win.

I just don't see this game being as close as everyone thinks/wants it to be. I have no idea which team is going to come out on top, but I bet they will win by 10+.

That being said, I'll take MSU for a few reasons:
I think we can contain the NDSU running game like we did vs OSU and SFA.
I'd pick an outdoors team over a dome team just about anyday when evenly matched.
Losing to Poly hopefully slapped us back into reality and we are going to play our hearts out.

I won't predict any scores, but I'll say MSU by at least 10. But there is a good chances it will be NDSU by 10+.

Hopefully the guys will come out with a little ferocity and piss and really stick it to 'em! I know Gatewood is ready to rock, so I expect big things from the O. Bass finally breaks a big one.

If we play the kind of game we're supposed to be built for, we win by 10. If we come out and play like a bunch of headcases like we did last week, then the Bison roll us by 14+.

Eliminate the mental errors. Get turnovers. Make first downs. Cats win.

Don't tackle. Forget your responsibility on defense. Bison win.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.

Lets add in "lazy reciever play", "low confidence", and "no heart" into the Bison win category. We need to drop the gloves this Sat and play with the elevated ferocity that championship teams play with.

I think Gatewood's return will help Travis a lot. He really hasn't had a Travis like game yet (steady and poised at OSU, solid and productive enough against SFA, and  against Poly) this season and I think he shows us one Saturday. I expect a shootout as the defense took a step back last week. Big games by Bass, Gatewood, Travis, and Murray are just enough.

Cats 33
Bison 31

Northwestern State held NDSU to only 111 yards rushing (on 39 attempts), but still lost 35-7.

Well in that case we have to play turnover free, or near turnover free ball as well. We can limit the picks, but we have to stop fumbling!

And if that was the Cats with 111 yards and a win, some on here would still be complaining about our running game. How did you score 35 points

DEFENSE- it kept the NDSU offense in rediculously good field position all day long.

NDSU - balanced attack, solid pass D, allowing 115 roughly per game in the air.

Cats, pass heavy, decent D.

Looking at it from the outside, this is acutally a very tough game to call. Will Lulay rebound, or will NSDU keep rolling? Cats are at home, so that helps, hopefully for them.

But...I am one of "those" Griz fans.

Cats lose 34-13

Sorry boys, I just don't think the Cats have enough to beat the most under-rated IAA program in the nation. NDSU is too good on both sides of the ball. If they played the Griz this year, we would lose to them.

My predictions for this game:

NDSU 30
MSU 17

Bison give up 3 touchdowns...more than they've given up in the 3 previous games combined. Bison score 4 TD's and tack on a FG.

31 - 21 Bison

Solid perfomance from both teams and a great rivelry is renewed.

Go Bison!!

Last week I said Poly 38-35 and I got reamed for suggesting Poly would score that many points. I don't think NDSU is as good as Poly and it's a home game for the Cats. I have a hard time thinking the Cats could start out 1-3 and I think this game will be closer than last week, but until the Cats prove they can stop a good passing team, I'm going with NDSU 28-24.

This is not smack intended, but it's really amazing to me that whenever the Cats have a great team and suffer one bad loss everyone starts thinking every game as either barely a win or a loss. I don't want to say you would be jumping off the bandwagon but you guys seem to lose faith pretty quick, especially after you spent all that time talking up your team.

I think the Cats get back on track this week.

MSU over NDSU 35-21.
