"So many of our kids are from California," MSU coach Mike Kramer said. "It's hard for us to remain focused because so many of us have friends and family here. (Cal Poly) beat us in every phase of the game."
Coincidentally I attended both of the recent 'California' games and witnessed first hand the results. The Sac St game was eerily similar, a MSU team coming in riding high (and possibly overconfident), which proceeds to go out and make a slew of mental mistakes. In both games we had fumbles snaps, major defensive breakdowns (i.e. long touchdown runs and blown coverage). This game was almost a mirror image but the only difference is that Cal Poly had the talent to step on our necks last night when we were down whereas Sac St let us linger around for awhile.
Not sure whose fault this is but the coaching staff has to take some blame as they have keep the players from getting distracted from the task at hand.
Edit: Why I thought this was interesting was that there are so many things to 'blame' and I hadn't thought of this before. There may or may not be any substance to this at all but nonetheless interesting.
I suppose the good news is we are at home next week

That comment pissed me off too. If the Cali kids are having trouble maintaining focus when they travel down there (and it certainly isn't just the Cali kids), then keep them away from all the family and friends until after the game, when maybe they can actually celebrate a win down there for a change.
Either way, it is a terrible excuse, and Kramer should have never said that.

I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but I was thinking of the last year's f'ing game with Sac State as I watched us bumble around in the f'ing game last night. Big loss again, but at least it was non-conference (and to a much superior opponent than last year's Sac State team).
