Unleash Lulay

I feel Lulay is so underutilized, it's sickening. This kid has wheels, so why not utilized them? I know Kramer and staff wanted him to be more of a pocket passer starting last year, but is that really his forte?

I think we need more bootlegs. And with how athletic our OLine is there is no reason why we shouldn't be able to move with him for protection. Even more options would be a good idea, anything to utilize Lulay's ability to run the football and make plays. Granted he is extremely poised in the pocket, but if defenses are just going to blitz nonstop, we need Lulay to escape it sometime, on designed plays.

If you're going to play football into December, what you need is someone OTHER than Lulay to contribute offensively. The ONLY place a one dimentional attack will get you is home for Thanksgiving!

I realize this, I know we need an effective running game if we have any shot at a playoff run. But a good running QB can open up the running game as well. I've always felt the Cats restrict Lulays potential as a play maker. I don't want him to be scrambling, just rolling out with the threat to run, he throws well on the run.

One player makes it to easy for the good teams to scheme against and stop. Well actually, you don't have to stop them, just contain them.

I know what your saying and trying to get across. Lulay is a great player but he won't get you to the promised land by himself. The only thing he'll get if you make him carry the entire team is injured. Especially, if your plan means more contact for him.

Surprisingly enough, I thought we ran the ball effectively most of the time last night. Bass hits the hole hard and is very elusive and can catch the ball too as evidenced by the TD catch. The problem last night is that after every couple successful running plays we would drop a snap or blow a block which turned into a loss and would force us into an obvious passing play. Overall game results aside, I think we have the ability to establish the run this year.

I couldn't agree with you more Celtic. Lulay seems to not only be able to make plays when he rolls out, he also seems to throw the ball with some touch when he's throwing on the run. Every time he throws a ball from the pocket, he tries to do his best John Elway impression and throws a ball with no touch that a lot of times isn't very catchable. I realize sometimes he has to thread the needle, but man I know I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of some of those bullets.

It's those little things like dropping a snap, blowing a block and what have you which prevents a successful running game. A running attacks measure of success is not just in total yards gained, but more so in how it lets a team control a game. I did not see a successful running game from MSU last night.

I thought Carpenter looked good in relief of an ineffective Lulay last night.

I would start Carpenter next week against the Bison in an attempt to jump start a team that has one win in how many games going back to last year. 1 in 6?

My point was, that there were open holes for Bass to run through last night. I attribute the dropped snaps to mental errors not an inability to run the ball. I did not see a successful running game last night as well, but was stating that we have the ability and personel to have a good running game from here on out.

Bronco- I hope you were kidding, because that was the dumbest thing I have ever read in my entire life as a human being. Your family should be ashamed of you and they are all dumber now because of your crap antics.

You would sit the all-time passing leader in MSU history in the make or break game of the season?

Good plan!
