That is funny that there were less than 12,000 people at a IA program.

Funnier still -- that's a big crowd for them. I was talking to a guy in the ticket line (GA was $10/ticket, but they were running a 2 for 1 deal, so it was really $5) who was a SJSU alum, and he was raving about how many people were there for the game.

It's a program that needs a serious infusion of public interest ... or a demotion to I-AA.

So assuming the half of the crowd bought reserved seats and the other half bought reserved seats (and disregarding the fact that the students got in free), their gate was probably no more than $110,000. They paid EWU $125,000, so before any other expenses of any kind, they lost $25K.

It's hard to run a program on support like that.
