I-AA West Game of the Week
Montana State (1-1) @ Cal Poly (1-1)
This game between the Big Sky and the Great West Conferences should be a good test for both clubs and may help us determine the at-large I-AA West teams for the postseason. Both teams are coming into this contest with losses to I-A teams to begin their seasons (Oklahoma State for Montana State and Troy for Cal Poly) and impressive non-conference home games from last week (Montana State 42-6 victory over Stephen F. Austin and Cal Poly 37-13 win over Sacramento State).
Last year, Cal Poly beat the Bobcats in Bozeman 27-14 with a dominating defensive performance.
I think this matchup will be similar as Montana State likely has the better offense and Cal Poly has the better defense. So given that, something has to give.
I think the Bobcats will be ready for this game on the road. They proved to me that they can compete with a I-A team on the road and I don’t think Mustang Stadium will be as intimidating.
I like quarterback Travis Lulay and the Bobcats to win a game that I think will be similar to last year in terms of scoring. I will take MSU by 10.
