Game Music

The athletic dep't has hired a new person to do the game (vb, fb, bb) music. Apparently this girl doesn't know a whole lot about sports...especially football, and is very nervous/clueless about what types of music to play at the games. I am posting this thread to compile a list of music to help her out. I guess we'll see how tomorrow goes, and if it sucks, maybe we can give Peter Fields our $.02 about what we would like to hear.

One thing that I would really like to see is some situational music. Like last year they played "hurts so good" when we had a big hit or a sack, also the Lulay song whenever Lulay did something amazing.

Safety's are rare but I always thought you should have "The Safety Dance" on file just in case.

The Helena Brewer's used some clips from Napolian Dynamite in certain situations and it was hillarious. Not sure how it would work in Football.

How about "I want it all" by Queen before the kickoff. Cheesy I know but I love that song.

EW EW EW, I know how about Cotton Eye JOe and Thank God I'm a Country Boy. Then maybe we can copy what they do in baseball and play "Your kiss is on my list" and show people in the stands kissing.

That would be awesome.

Something really heavy is needed for when the players enter the field. Lately, I've found a strong liking for Chevelle's "The Clincher". Of course, you can never go wrong with some old Metallica (Disposable Heroes, Master of Puppets, etc). Hell even "Rusty Cage" by Soundgarden would be pretty sweet for when they enter the field.

I know, I'm dreaming but those are some songs that could fire up nearly anyone.

Sorry for my rambling......

"Ice, Ice, Baby" by Vanilla Ice if we try to ice their kicker.

"Under Pressure" by Queen and David Bowie when we have them pinned inside the 10.

Those are a couple that would fit in with a logical theme.

[quote="profisme"]"Ice, Ice, Baby" by Vanilla Ice if we try to ice their kicker.

To paraphrase Dave Barry (in his Book of Bad Songs): Clearly, song preference is a very subjective matter. Who's to say who's right or wrong? Who's to say that "Ice, Ice, Baby" is a poor choice? I am. This is a horrible idea. No offense profisme, but that's on par with when we played "Hangin' Tough" by the frickin' New Kids on the Block. Please, please no Vanilla Ice in any way, shape or form.
Opening myself up to ridicule, may I suggest "The Power" by Snap ("It's gettin', it's gettin', it's gettin' kinda hectic."). Also, in place of "Safety Dance", might I suggest "It Takes 2" by Rob Bass.

I would like to hear more than just the same five songs over and over again next game.

The music was just OK. Awful damn loud though. (Never thought I would be old enough to say that!!) Am I the only one that was there that thought so. There were times when the CATS had the ball, that the music would play way too long between plays. Often times, I thought it was inappropriate. Anyone concur or am I just getting too old??

I also felt the music was too loud, and too much of it. Every single free second was filled with music, and not very good music at that.

I like a lot of the songs that are being mentioned so far. I think some sound bites would also be effective at times.

I don't remember if we did it last year, but I know two years ago we would play a bit at the first kick off that went something like "noone comes into our house and knocks us around; I mean nobody" and then they'd play a little AC/DC.

some of those kinds of appropriate/timely clips could be very effective

Get rid of all the game music, and the let the band play.
Apparently the band is willing to do more music, but the AD thinks I'd rather hear "Hey-Ya" pumped at high volume than the MSU marching band.

Also, they only did the ROAAAAOROAROARRR half the time on our first downs, the students were quite upset with it!

The person doing the music needs to learn to stop it when we are trying to call a play! There were times when it was interfereing with the game. I think we are going to far with the music!!
