I think this is a real good get for the Cats. I really, really like what Durham can do with good highschool point gaurds. Can anyone name one that did not pan out? This guy is a true big point for Big Sky standards plus he can score. We have recruited so many utlity players in recent years that i really wanted to see some people who can and would put up some good numbers. I do not know if he will play or redshirt but it is real nice to get another point guard on scholarship where we have been real thin.

From MSU:
BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Ryan Holmes, the leading high school
basketball scorer in Arizona last season, has signed a National
Letter-of-Intent to join the Montana State men's basketball program next
fall, MSU coach Mick Durham announced Wednesday.
Holmes, 6-1, 185 lbs, was an all-state guard at Millennium High,
and was a two-time all-conference selection. The four-year starter
averaged 29.3 points to lead the state's prep athletes last season, and
also logged seven assists, 6.5 rebounds, and four steals per outing.
"Ryan is a kid with a great knack for scoring," Durham said,
"and he can score in a variety of ways. When I watched him on tape I
expected that all he would be able to do was score, but he's a very
unselfish player who is also very strong and defends well. He's a
well-rounded player, and I'm excited to get a young guard of his caliber
in our program."
Millennium coach Tim Butler also lauds Holmes as a versatile
player. "Ryan ran the point for us and also played the two guard,"
Butler said. "He's just an overall leader, extremely quick, with a knack
for the ball. He is a good, solid defender, and is just a solid
all-around basketball player. Ryan is such a good kid, I love him and
his family. He'll do a great job at Montana State."
Holmes joins junior college guards Ja'Ron Jefferson and Branden
Miller, along with three frontline players, as MSU's signees for the
2004-05 season...
