I just saw this on facebook. I went to Adam's page where I read he was diagnosed not too long ago with Hodgkins Lymphoma!!!!

"Montana State Bobcats Football Rest in Peace Adam Decock. He passed away on Saturday October 23rd 2010. Wore #79 when he played. Bobcat Nation's prayers are with you and your family."

My apologies if this has already been reported here.

THIS SUCKS!

Just saw this as well on there and was about to post it. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Sad to see someone go so young.

Sad news, my prayers go to his family.

Thought on this...

I used to work with a guy who was diagnosed with the same thing at the age of 24. At his diagnosis, the doctors told him he'd have been dead in 5 more weeks without treatment. It makes me wonder if Adam went undiagnosed until it was too late. Sad all around, no matter what happened.

so ******' ******. sorry but these things just suck. adam was a great guy and he touched so many people. only got to hang out with adam a couple times but that's all it took. the guy was awesome and made everyone feel comfortable whether you were a teamate or just some schmo off the street. he seemed to touch a lot of lives and i know he'll be missed. my thoughts go out to his family first and foremost. i'd also like to send thoughts out to all his teamates and close friends who are having to deal with this right now. they lost a good one...and we all lost a bobcat. rest in peace adam.

our thoughts go out to the family also. Every day is a gift, and I certainly take it for granted. my worst fear in the world is to lose my son, and can't imagine the pain. He will certainly be remembered. Thanks for the great moments in Bobcat sports.

What a devastating loss to his family, friends, teammates and Bobcat Nation. I never had a conversation with Adam but respected his demeanor, passion and effort on the field. His family - all his extended Bobcat family - is in my prayers.

We met up with some folks from Harlowton @ The Hideaway after the game, and they had just heard about it - didn't get a chance to hit BN this weekend and let everyone know about it earlier. My prayers go out to the DeCock family.

Things like this are so incredibly difficult to put into words, because it just seems like words always fall short of describing how horrible something really is. No matter how hard one tries to be articulate, the words just never seem right.

My brother-in-law grew up in China and speaks English, but it is clear that English is his second language. Last year, he got a call from the police when we were at a wedding together to inform him that his mother, who had Alzheimers and was getting worse, had wandered away from their house and was found far away from home, confused and not knowing who she was or where she was. He is one of those guys who is really emotional, but does his damndest to try not to show his emotions too much outwardly. He just hung up the phone, told us why he had to leave, and muttered, "That's just not fair."

It was struck by how spot-on his words were. He lacked the English language skills to come up with a flowery or dramatic way to phrase it, but his way of putting it was the best description I have ever heard for the cruelty of life, especially when it takes our loved ones far too early.

So all I can say to the DeCock family and everyone who knew and loved Adam is, "It's not fair." And I'm sorry. That really, really sucks.

If you believe in God, days like this are pretty hard to understand. It's never the scum of the earth that befall a fate like this. Instead it's the good people that find their days cut short.

In spite of that, we all need to pray for Adam's family. While Adam may be gone, his memory remains with his family. May they find peace in that Adam no longer has to suffer.
