How did that get set up?

It looks as if Strawn suited up more bodies than the CATS.

If they're spending a lot of time in that room, and I'm guessing they are, those coaches have to be feeling cramped. That looks like a miserable setup for hours-long meetings.
Agreed, I've spent many miserable hours over the years in conference rooms just like that one. Coach Vigen has exactly the right idea by sitting right next to the door!
Our drill instructors used to say about our squad bay, "It smells like feet and ass in here."

Has anybody found any full game streaming footage of the Maine-Colgate game from yesterday?

MSU has played back-to-back road games nine times in the past 15 years. They've won both five times, split three times and lost both once. The other sweeps were in 2022 against NAU and Cal Poly, 2019 against UNC and UC Davis, 2014 against SAC and UC Davis, 2012 against S. Utah and UC Davis. None of those sets were the first two games of the season and MSU had film on both opponents each one of those times, while having no film on either team this year and both coaching staffs were new.

The win over UNM may have been a near loss, but the lines of scrimmage, critical plays, and general play were all dominated by MSU, especially after falling behind 17-0 to UNM.

Over the two games MSU outgained UNM and UT 1,048-500, held the T.O.P. edge 79:18-40:42, went 14 of 29 on third down to 2 for 19 and outscored them 66-38.

I absolutely love that 1/3 of our road games are behind the Cats before September even hit. I think that’s huge. I don’t know why necessarily. But 2-0. On the road. One of those wins against a real quality opponent. Something that hasn’t happened much recently. Giant game at ISU in late September.

I see Weber plays Portland State this Saturday in a conference matchup. Stuff like this makes one feel fortunate that we seem to have good enough schedule negotiators in the athletic department to generally avoid this sort of situation.

I'm guessing they just both got money games later in the season so it made sense to move their conference game up.

I was actually thinking today that it might be kind of cool to kick off the season with conference match ups over Labor Day weekend where possible, like the home team hosts their secondary rival. Might make for a more exciting start to the season. I know teams like the warmup games, either up or down, but if the P4 can play games that matter in week 1 you'd think we could too.

Well we do play SDSU week 1 next year correct? That’s 2/3 years with a big game that matters early

Yes, next year's first FCS game is huge but I'm thinking specifically opening the season with a conference game. My idea would also apply to all teams, not just us. Playing an SDSU, NDSU, etc is rare for any BSC team. Usually season openers are nearly guaranteed wins or losses. For most teams that means the fan base is tiptoeing into the season rather than getting excited from the jump.

We will have plenty of time to talk about this Feb through August. But, Both MSU and SDSU will be vastly different teams next year. Should be fun.

We open at Oregon next year? Eeesh; that’s going to be a rough one. I’ll attend, but the way Dan Lanning has that program running, that will be a suboptimal way to kick things off next year.

Every game is different and the Cats will be coming in with a lot of new starters, but you never know.

Fair point. However, the Ducks started the season ranked #3, despite moving to the Big 10. That says something about the program. Plus, they’ll have another year of tough, hard-nosed, Big 10 football under their belts. And that’s another year in the portal for Dan Lanning and co, who has shown intelligence in using the portal.

While I remain hopeful, I’m also realistic. Oh, and the Cats will have anew starting QB next year…
