The GOOD👍😁….$650k and we still have an opportunity to have 11 D1 wins this year, which is the same as our ‘dark pink’ rivals because they decided to play a d2 school next week…..also….we have a ‘bye’ week to look forward to (Oct 18), the fizz don’t, they play 12 straight weeks without a bye.

The BAD👎☹️….(only) 46 yards rushing

I only watched the high lights on YouTube. My knowledge is little.

Good: we have a red shirt freshman that started at left tackle for his first start against a top 10 team. He seemed to hold his own. Great job Mr.Zimmer.

Bad: team defense looked slow.
The team defense isn’t slow. There was always a defender around the receiver on every pass play. The first play of the game is probably a touchdown or another 20 yards downfield last year.
You can see entire game on YouTube.

Dude, I saw ONE failure to wrap in 4 separate clips you posted. I guess you could MAYBE add that the Sadiq TD where our 175lb CB bounced off a 235 lb FREAK athlete...

The other ones, nobody was even close enough to make a play, they were blocked & schemed out.

And then, DOUBLE LOL.

You posted the Sadiq TD as an example of bad tacking, even though it was mostly just that the Cat DB went high instead of low & bounced off...but then you claim "being hurdled when you go low" is ALSO bad tackling.

SMH...Bobcat Nation has turned into one of those pages where "Every time a Cat is in the screen & doesn't make a tackle, it's bad tackling."

Dude, thats what it looks like when an FCS team plays a Top 5 FBS team.
This class reminds of a few posters.

The tackling wasn't as bad as you think. Out of 60+ plays we had maybe 4-5 bad tackles. Williams went chest to chest and tried to arm tackle an OL with speed.....mcmillan went low after running 50+yds covering moore then redirected to cross the field because the ball carrier broke, dude was gased(he was the only cb that only got taken out once before they put in the 2s..... there were a few others that were at the los and the ball carrier made a great play. This is a p4 team, we're going to look like this from time to time. There were several outstanding plays that tells me we'll be head and shoulders above fcs teams... the mcmillan play on the reverse, the gray play when he walked the guy down and there were several other plays I saw cbs sticking their nose into the pile to help decrease extra yardage.

Mark my words.... long as we're healthy we'll be in Nashville and I'm going to say we'll win it. I'm saying that because from what I see teams are going to have hell throwing the ball against this secondary and Lamson showed me that even when they know we're throwing he can complete the pass and our wrs can get open. Our run game will be stout against fcs teams, we were just out manned on the OL, and that's OK, we won't see UO again.

I came away from this game impressed with the Cats. Just knowing how far out-classed they were, I think they still played pretty damn good football. There’s no way to properly prepare for the physicality and speed that UO brings. So those first two series looked ugly, but then the Cats adjusted to the game and started to play with them. That showed me a lot. Couldn’t catch them, but played with them. There will never be a front 7 like that again this year. Holy crap were they good up there. That D-line was crazy good. They’ll see a good D-line against SDSU, but nobody will have the combo of size, strength, and explosiveness. So I’m not worried about the run game.
I knew the score would be something like it ended up being, so I watched the game through a different lens and tried to look for takeaways of strengths.
The Cats’ passing game was something not seen since the McGhee days. There’s been games with better numbers, but nothing with consistent short and intermediate routes that were completed on Saturday. No knock on dudes like Tommy or Troy, they were just a completely different style of athlete (and yes, overall far superior athletes). SDSU is gonna have a helluva hard time scouting MSU’s offense.
My only bad/ugly out of the game were injuries. Fingers crossed that they all were on the minor end of the spectrum.

Bad:
Tackling. Broken tackles are one thing but when you see players trying to deliver ‘the big hit’ and not wrapping up that’s form. If they were sliding off guys trying to wrap up that’s understandable. They were trying hit in the open field.
There were a few missed tackles but nothing out of the ordinary. I rewatched the game and watched for this. I think people see missed tackles liked they see basketball players not boxing out. If the other team gets an offensive rebound they scream “box out!” even though the ball just bounced right to the opposing player.

Some missed tackles are broken tackles. Players go in and make a great effort to just close but aren’t able to get into good enough position despite that effort and the attempt is broken. Receivers are accused of dropping passes then they make a great effort to get to but the ball is too hot or they hit the ground so hard it’s impossible to hang to. But hE gOT a HaNd on IT, sO He sHOuld’Ve caUgHT it!
Tackling is a technique. The result of the play doesn’t change that. There were plenty of plays where the Bobcat made the tackle by launching without wrapping up. There’s a reason players do it. It does not change the fact that the form is bad. It’s like blocking on the O-line, people don’t notice the bad form until it affects the play. They see the player go down and think “good tackle” even though it wasn’t a great form tackle. Championship teams tackle well, tackle consistently, and tackle with good form. Cats missed some tackles today because they were not doing those. Even when they made plays they still didn’t have good form consistently. They need to be better at that to be a national title contender.
Absolute BS. The Ducks broke three tackles of any conseqhence. The defense was absolutely not just throwing their bodies at players. You’re just butt hurt over the score and you want to blame someone. Pathetic.
Dude relax. I just posted what was my opinion and you're allowed to disagree but you're 100% wrong here trying to assume my so called butt-hurtness. I predicted a large loss in the prediction thread and in my first post listed several things I thought were positive coming out of the game. I just think that there was some bad form on tackles. No need to get all egriz type of posting.

Anyone see the tackle Dowler made? It was at the :50 mark of the first quarter. It was on the Oregon starting QB Moore. A lineman was coming at Dowler and he got juked by Caden, who then took down Moore. I'll try to find it and post on X, then here if they have a good shot of it.

(Update: there's not a good shot of it in the replay, but I might have it in my story on Dowler this week).

The bad - Agreeing to schedule such a game in today’s portal environment. The upper echelon programs like Oregon are basically professional teams. Our complete nil budget could be consumed by just one of their players. Oregon also attracts the top portal prospects from across the country. They get guys from other P4 and G6 programs. This type of game should never be scheduled again.

The positive - We will not see an opponent anywhere near that level of talent. Oregon will be one of the last teams playing in FBS at the end of the playoffs. They have more guys on that Oregon team that will play professionally than MSU currently has in the NFL right now. Despite the outcome, playing the bigger, faster and stronger Ducks is great prep for next week - minus injuries to Daily and Taki.
The good: Scheduling this game!!!! Most years we play Moorhead State or Mercyhurst and we learn nothing about the team and the players learn nothing about themselves. Keep scheduling these type of games!!!! Bring on Ohio State!!!
...as long as it's about 2-3x the pricetag.

Bad: Tackling. I know some on here are arguing this point but I saw a few instances where we just went for the hit and did NOT focus on tackling to the ground.
I hate to keep belaboring this, but I've spent some time on this and just want to see what I'm missing for future reference. I'm not football genius, but I've gone threw the game twice now and haven't seen this. Can you point these plays out? I ID'd four missed tackles and a couple plays that were more the offensive player making a great move than a missed tackle.

I think people need to realize the other team is trying too and that lots of the so-called missed tackles are when a player is fighting his way through a block and despite getting through it doesn't have the leverage to make a strong tackle attempt. Like I said earlier, this is like people yelling "Block Out!!" at basketball games when the reality is the player did block out, however, the ball came off the rim long and there was no way the player could get it.
I re watched the game and on a positive note, there were a LOT of good tackles too. I suppose the four or five bad tackles (at least two leading to touchdowns), are the ones that stood out and stuck in my head. I think our defense if going to be pretty good. Huge test on Saturday.

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
