So maybe ticket sales aren't going as swiftly as we thought. :(

Historically I can tell you that the Griz have had a hard time selling out the thanksgiving week end games. I think it is just a tough game to sell tickets for because every one is moving around. Then again we do have a better class of fans

I was in and got two more this afternoon (at the fieldhouse) and asked the lady and she said it had been busy enough to have all three windows open with a line all morning today. I think we are doing pretty good, especially considering we haven't opened it up to the public yet. I don't have hard numbers to support that, just what I have heard and seen while getting my tickets and hearing from others that have gotten theirs.

They haven't even gone on sale yet for the most part (just went on sale to ASA people this afternoon), so I doubt this is a reaction to that. I have a feeling that this whole TV thing is part of the marketing plan that was in place before any tickets were sold.

It's our toughest game to sell tickets for each year because of Thanksgiving.

"We had 15,520 (for Cal Poly) last year, and it was the best opening-round game we've ever had," said O'Day.

I typically go to the Griz first-round game because we are usually in Missoula visiting my Mom for Thanksgiving. I can attest to there being empty seats at WashGriz. They still pull in a great crowd, however.

The ONE year my brother gets the bright idea to host Thanksgiving in Seattle, we are stuck 12 hours away from Bozeman. The six-hour round-trip on Saturday from Missoula would have sweet. Yeah, I'm a tad bitter, even moreso if no one televises this game, which I still find almost impossible to believe.

I called about an hour ago and the kid on the phone said they have passed 6000 tickets.

could someone explain the following to me which was on the furman website. will we be able to watch the game by way of the internet?thank you.

It will be broadcast over the internet via Big Sky TV for free.

http://www.bigskytv.org/

Just an FYI, but unless you guys are bringing the equipment, our AD has said there is NO broadcast plans. Very unfortunate and I don't know why but there it is. The video feed on bigskytv.org will just be with MSU cameras I would assume.

No clue, it was my understanding that bigskytv.org simply took the footage that was being viewed on the tv and transferred it onto the internet. The reason I'm thinking this is that earlier in the season the online service was horrible with many complaints and the promoters for it said they were having issues with the tv companies in setting up the feed properly for them; so there was more need for training at the time.

I honestly have no idea how they could possibly get it online without somebody throwing a camera up. But, maybe they're bringing their own stuff

The last part of that post is mine. Probably wasn't very clear, but it was in response to someone saying that they were still trying to get it broadcast down there.

My meaning is that currently there are no plans to actually do a TV broadcast of the game per the AD at MSU. If there is a TV broadcast then yes, they do just pick that up for the BigSkyTV site. However, other than a few Altitude games and the Cat and Griz games there was no TV for Big Sky games and all of those were on BigSkyTV. Any game that isn't on TV, the school is responsible to set up one or more camera's and stream the feed to BigSkyTV website. This is what MSU will likely be doing if there is no TV broadcast, and is the same thing we do for our home Basketball games.

So my point of the somewhat confusing post on the Furman board was that while the game will be available via BigSkyTV, it will be a simple production with MSU cameras most likely and WILL NOT be available via TV broadcast unless somethin changes.

thanks kmax. but knowing nothing about this stuff, are you telling me if i go to the above website/link that we will be able to maybe "see" the game with no audio/announcers? if the answer to that question is yes, are you 100% sure that this will be a possibiliy for us?

seems like if you guys could pull off the miracle of getting in the playoffs and be at home that this would be easy...lol. thanks.

The game will be broadcast on Big Sky TV for free. The audio will come from our radio feed. Cameras will be set up on the roof of the stadium that are the same cameras used for the basketball games in the fieldhouse. They're good quality cameras--the same kind used by TV stations--it's just the internet cast that makes it look crappy. Everytime a camera moves quickly, the screen looks like rain. If you have a good fast, internet connection, it's actually okay. And for free, who can complain?

Yeah, what oldcatfan said. ;) That's exactly what I was trying to say, we have our own camera's that will be doing the feed and yes furman fans will be able to watch it via BigSkyTV just like everyone else.

So it sounds like you overbid and thus can't afford for it to be on TV because you can't afford to not fill up the stadium. $30 for tickets is higher than I've ever paid for a first round game. Heck, I'm not sure I've paid that for a 2nd round game. Perhaps you bid a little bit too much?

MSU had nothing to do with ticket prices- they came from NCAA and are slightly higher than normal game tickets. It's our stadium, but for the playoffs it belongs to NCAA- no noise makers, all advertising has to be removed or covered up , etc.

Gotta love the NCAA

In all honesty, I highly doubt it. After paying $50 for Cat/Griz, $30 seems cheap and I am fairly positive that Bobcat Stadium will be pretty full come Saturday. Besides, the Cats needed this home game to get over the proverbial hump for local support. Even if they did lose money, this was a no-lose situation. I'm not sure of the reasoning for no local coverage, but I don't think it was because MSU couldn't afford it. Course I've been wrong before. ;)

I'm not buying this 'ticket prices are set by the NCAA' line. Tickets cost $5 for students and $25 for the general public at Washington Grizzly stadium this weekend. So, it makes zero sense that tickets would cost different amounts at Reno H. Sales if the prices are set by the NCAA.

There's something real fishy going on here....

Yeah. Wait a few days. Things may change on the TV front. BigSkyTV will still be there on Friday.
