It wasn't $50 at the PSU/UM game. It was around $34. They raised the price but not that much. Supply and demand wasn't an issue either. They raised the price because the quality of the product was better and they knew people would pay more for that game. I like your idea though. Cat fans should listen to what you're saying, skip this one and send a message. :D
I still can't figure out how or why you guys paid so much to go to the game? I had a beer last night with a griz friend and his wife who went to the PSU game (they have family out there) and they paid $34 for two tickets. Sounds like PSU scammed several griz fans.

see earlier post with link to ticket cost.... it specifically states that adult tickets to the UM game were $17 and that's what my friend paid. Maybe they decided to charge double to anyone wearing maroon?

Football is not a game but a religion, a metaphysical island of fundamental truth in a highly verbalized, disguised society, a throwback of 30,000 generations of anthropological time. ~Arnold Mandell

I'm not buying that Griz/PSU is a supply and demand thing. This year, there were 13K for the game. 2004 there were 8,400. The stadium they play in seats in the neighborhood of 20,000. Doesn't sound like supply is lacking. Next time the Griz are out in Portland, all the Griz fans should just skip this one. At $50 a pop, it would send a pretty good message to PSU.

The quality of the product was better, therefore demand went up, therefore prices went up. If that was the case then I would say that supply and demand was an issue.

it's actually not as complicated as all this. this is just another example of griz fans talking about how great they are, and how great everyone else thinks they are. and like many times, this example is just not true.

do you have to know everything to post here? or just think you do?

Gotta agree with RedCat on this one. Price increases don't necessarily need to come from a lack of supply. They can come simply from a large increase in demand, even if there is plenty of supply to meet that demand (e.g. prices are "demand-driven"). The increase in demand could come from any number of sources besides short supply (in this instance, it was caused by UM coming to town). So, in this particular case, the demand curve for tickets would move sharply upward causing ....

Oh, the hell with Econ. Let's talk football.
