If Wilson or whoever is an above average QB, this is a top 3 team. If they aren’t, it’s a top 10 team.

I’ll also say this. This team with a more consistent passing game can win championships. Even with Tommy’s improved ability, teams were daring us to pass. Challenging us to prove they could pass. A better passing game will make a huge, huge, difference. Just remember, MSU doesn’t rebuild, we reload. There is still a ton of talent here, and a ton of talent coming in. And that isn’t going to stop.
Had to walk a few "concerned" alumni through this in the airport yesterday...

When you pay attention to recruitment since 2014 and then you start to consistently see those recruits develop (especially under Choate/Vigen), you get pretty excited about a fresh season every year. I also trust the head guy to find his next QB which he's done consistently since his days at NDSU.
The hand wringing at QB cracks me up. In the last 14 years, the Cats have had a 4 year starter, a 3.5 year starter, and a 2 year starter (would have been 3 except the grad transfer thing). There was only the hiccup when Prukop left & there were essentially no QB recruits on the roster...Even that would have worked out fine if Murry had been able to keep his grades up.

Weirdest thing IMO: Cats moved their best linebacker to be full time wildcat QB & he won all conference QB even though he couldn't pass.

Cats have been so loaded for so long at QB that Matt McKay is remembered as a failure even though he had a 151.6 passer rating (better QBR than Tommy last year) & went 9-1 against the FCS as a starter. And he got benched!

When those are the years with QB 'misses' it makes me feel pretty good that the program has the QB position in really good shape.

This is my way of grieving...projecting forward. This is likely subject to change as NIL will likely take 2-3 of our guys but here is how it stands in my view.

I see in your 2 deep list you had Gray at NB but not a word about him in your writeup. I was impressed by him more than once this year but I don't have the chops to do any meaningful analysis and would like to see your thoughts on him. Those 4 DEs have me really excited as well.
I'm no Vim, but I like the looks of Gray. Plays hard and with a lot of emotion. Just needs to learn to turn it off when the whistle blows. I think he has the potential to turn out to be very good.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

This.
But sure fun to speculate
