Re: First game!
Shot in the dark here, but is there a group of fans in the Eugene OR area that gets together for games? I just moved here and don’t have cable so I’m gonna go to bar this Saturday and I’m wondering if there’s anywhere where I won’t be the only cat fan.
First and goal, clock winding down. That's Humphrey! It's TOUCHDOWN MONTANA STATE!

I think it is fair to say also that the person holding the camera holds some responsibility too for not figuring out how to get a good shot of the person being interviewed and omit the parts of the backdrop that look wrinkled and awful. I know that it can be done with a minimum of forethought and effort. I will also say that if it were my business paying to have my name on the backdrop I would've made a phone call a long time ago to get that backdrop looking like it should.CodyCat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:04 pmI get that it is frustrating. Why can’t we get a professional appearing backdrop like this instead of the wrinkled sheet look we always use? His interview on YouTube gives you an idea of his personality. Seems like a good man. He’ll have his team ready come Saturday, it’s going to be a fight!

Re: First game!
I agree but I also think, in a way, it’s a testament to our programs success in the sense that there are 2 or 3 copies of each MSU press conference put out every time because multiple news outlets cover it as well as the university communications teams. UNM, on the other hand, only has the university comms team putting out the video because local news doesn’t care as much about the football team. That’s why they only have to worry about 1 camera angle.Joe Bobcat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:30 pmI think it is fair to say also that the person holding the camera holds some responsibility too for not figuring out how to get a good shot of the person being interviewed and omit the parts of the backdrop that look wrinkled and awful. That said, it’s still a fairly easy problem to solve, and I’d like to see an effort made to address it.

Looks like around 2,000. With Utah Tech next in St. George and its close proximity to Vegas, it makes sense that a lot of people are making it a ten day getaway. It’s an incredibly beautiful drive from Provo to Moab, I must say. I’m going to Albuquerque via Monuments Valley today. Haven’t decided which way I’ll go from Albuquerque to Vegas/St. George. Any suggestions?

Re: First game!
If you're heading to Vegas there aren't really many options other than I-40 West to Kingman, AZ and then north on Highway 93. Of course, with the obligatory Grand Canyon stop on the way if you've got time. Flagstaff is also nice, I've really liked their downtown area the few times I've been there. I've never cared much for Sedona.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 2:55 amMontanabob wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 9:08 pmlooks like MSU will be more in the house than locals.....

Heading to St. George you'd take I-40 West to Flagstaff and then go north on Highway 89. Easy stops in Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks if you want.

If you look at the stuff posted by Coulter or Victor those look like crap but the one from MSU are good, they just need a mic for those asking questions

One area that UNM was terrible was when the call-ins were asking questions. Bronco could barely hear Colter asking the questions. Bronco did do a FANTASTIC job of saying the question back into the mic for all of us to hear.

If you watch our post-game videos from any game we cover, they are high quality. Because we have our top photographers there to shoot them. For whatever it's worth, all 10 people on our team work full-time day jobs (including me, mine just happens to be in media and media sales) so we don't have the availability to go to a 30-minute presser in person in Bozeman during the middle of the day on a Monday (even the 3 from the crew who live in Bozeman), although we are working on remedying that issue as we speak. Our videos from Monday pressers are shot on zoom for now.
Per the sound for those asking questions, same deal, you can hear it all during post game, because Montana State has a whole sound engineering crew who controls that. But on Mondays, those people aren't available for whatever reason so there is no sound board or mics or any of that. Just a box to plug your cords in to get Vigen's mic.
The other point worth noting is that I don't know of an FBS school that allows other media to shoot their own versions of press conferences and post the whole thing uncut. Either the school shoots it and lets others embed or the school shoots it and you aren't allowed to embed whatsoever. TV stations can shoot but can't use the entire raw video in any way, just clips. I hope this doesn't happen in the FCS but I can pretty much guarantee it will. If you're a school, you want everyone to watch your video. Not mine or 406 Sports or whatever.

Once again, Colter explains it really well. The answers are all there. The people complaining will still click on the first available source and not wait for the MSU version.

We should probably be thankful that the press conference backdrop appears to be the biggest issue Bobcat fans have to complain about right now! Hopefully that doesn't change after tomorrow's game...

Re: First game!
Yeah, I know you don't always have someone there and wind up posting from a zoom call or something and it looks like it, I am not really complaining because at least you post it and we get to see it. The MSU version is usually centered and we are not looking up coaches nose at least. Even the post game or pregame we can almost never hear the questions on any of the posted video weather MSU or media.Colter_Nuanez wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 9:25 amA few thoughts here....cats2506 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2024 9:09 amCommon Cat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 22, 2024 4:07 pmThey hardly frame it correctly. I was mainly just letting the previous poster know if seeing the edges of the backdrop is so annoying to them they can wait the extra day until MSU posts their version. In the meantime I usually watch yours or victors since they get posted first.

Thanks for the travel tips. Yes, I’ll avoid Vegas. I 40 is so busy. Too many semis. I had to be on it for about 1.5 hours. The drive down was great. I’ll try to see Bryce and GC on the way to St. George. I’ve been to Zion twice. Amazing. Thanks again.
