I thought my room in Hedges with no roommate was luxurious! Can’t imagine having access to a pool and workout room in the same building. I may have never graduated!RICO CAT wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 10:38 am
I see the new fire station is coming along near the stadium. I wonder how they will pull into traffic when Kagy is clogged with game day traffic? This is from Google Earth Street View. Their photos are recent showing all the paving work around the stadium.
As for the future hotel, I would think it makes more sense to build it out closer to the corner of 7th and Kegy rather than next to an already congested area of campus.
A new “luxury” student apartment complex going to be built west of the stadium. Does student and luxury belong in the same sentence ? ?

Ya, I helped my nephew move into his dorm a few years back, it was the newest dorm facility... like between the historic Hedges' towers (Where I lived)... and the stadium. They were phenomenal... I can't even imagine what "luxury" ones are like.Cataholic wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 12:37 pmI thought my room in Hedges with no roommate was luxurious! Re: Parking
Parking lot. Look for the BOBCATS lettering in the plaza area on the East side. Kind of cool. Looks like they are very close to laying down asphalt on the West side soon.

Thanks for the pics! I wonder if BOBCATS on/in the concrete is some kind of inlay or just paint ?

Looked like inlay to me from the distance I was at.

Re: Parking
One other little tid-bit of information that I noticed on the West side parking lot. There is quite the slope from the South end of the lot to the North end. I never noticed the slope before but it's kind of pronounced now that the lot has been expanded. You could have a nice little skate board run there if the lot was empty.

Re: Parking
I really think people are going to be blown away by the different feel of the stadium area this fall. The paving and sidewalks, the scoreboard, and the IPF going up. It's all going to give it a very big-time feel. We'll enjoy it on game days, we'll enjoy the overall look even just in pictures, and it will be impressive to recruits. No recruit is going to say "wow this paving sure is nice", but it's going to be a subtle thing that really enhances the whole area.

Re: Parking
I agree completely. Stuff like the paved parking lot, curbing, some kind of trees and landscaping are all things that don’t necessarily get noticed when they’re present. But when they’re not present, it’s noticeable. It has a much smaller, frankly crappier feel to the area when none of that is there.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 10:39 amI really think people are going to be blown away by the different feel of the stadium area this fall. This will be great for the fans on game day and will also give it more of that nice, big time program feel to new recruits.

Re: Parking
Even for those of us who are there multiple times a year, this will feel very different in September. But I'd love to see a person coming to the stadium for the first time in 5-10 years and just see their reaction. Better yet I'd love to see someone who hasn't seen the stadium since 2011 or whatever the last year was before the end zone addition. I know Tom has highlighted all the improvements made in the last 12-13 years, but it's really remarkable. It seems somewhat gradual to people who have observed it first-hand, but it's really not gradual at all. We want that east side grandstand done yesterday, and we want the corners bowled in somehow, but we need to recognize just how much has happened in a relatively short amount of time. And it's been done without some big multi-million dollar contribution.Catsrgrood wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 10:53 amI agree completely. I'd love for MSU to find out if any former players or even just former students are coming back this season for the first time in 15 or more years. Maybe it's a Homecoming thing. But I think it would be a cool video to follow them around as they show up at the stadium and look around at all the improvements made. I think it would be very affirming for all of us who have donated and been a small part of the growth. MSU could say "look at what YOU have done", and I think it would energize people to keep things rolling.

Re: Parking
It can have an impact on our opponents also. I was on the plane with the parents of a player on the Albany team years ago. They were being very confident (which is fine) until I showed them a video of our runout with the stadium and the crowd in the background. They were very quiet the rest of the trip.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 11:08 amEven for those of us who are there multiple times a year, this will feel very different in September. Re: Parking
I was in town for the day and had to drive by to see it for myself. As of about 3:30 or so they had the west parking lot probably 75% paved.
Didn’t get any pictures because some of these others people have been posting would just put them to shame. But it was cool to see the progress made so far.

The East parking lot hasn't changed much since earlier in the week, but you can see in these pics how the paving has been going on the West side.
