Look at what T.Boone Pickens did for Oklahoma State. We don’t need to win the BSC conference titles that many times to live up. Not necessary at all.
How about we win at LEAST one before we start the self anointing?
We did last year.
Awww, you’re right. I was thinking National Title. Early morning posting can be problematic. Ha

FBS schools are making long term decisions right now. There are maybe 5 FCS schools in the country that could make it an FBS level. If we are not proactive, we will be relegated to FCS forever.
Do we leave the gris behind if necessary?

Yay! Sweet!
The FCS is not where we want to be, moving forward. It will be us and a bunch of schools making the move up from DII
Cool! Better than being runner up in the Potato Bowl.
Because we beat a bunch of teams with no fans and a stadium barely above that of a junior high? Yah… no
And then play in front of no fans at the Potato bowl.

This is my main issue with moving up. While I personally think our peer institutions are the Wyomings, Utah States, and Boise States of the world, having basically nothing to look forward to after Cat/Griz would be so disappointing. Oh boy, a chance to play in the New Mexico Bowl against some meddling MAC or CUSA team that doesn't travel half as well as we do, yippee

So just like when we play vs Portland State, Idaho State, UNC, Cal Poly ex. Not to mention the multitude of other FCS schools that think getting 1k to show up is mind blowing or when they come visit us in the playoffs. I'd rather play the Wyomings, CSUs of CFB then that.

And HELL NO to anyone suggesting we leave the Griz behind, to many historical rivalries have been screwed by realignment already and I highly doubt our State BOR would allow it.

I’d rather play in the Potato Bowl than at PSU, ISU, EWU, UNC. As far as the griz I could care less about them. Never even think about the griz until we play them.

To be clear, I love the FCS playoffs & have zero desire to participate in the joke of a Bowl system.

That said...SEMO vs. the Gris? 5,000 fans for Weber vs UND?

Sad fact is that the FCS palyoffs are pretty watered down too. I'd love to see a G5 playoff, but that won't happen as long as ESPN needs to sell ads during Christmas Break.

Yes, because of the board of regents. But it won’t be an issue because Griz would get any offer we get - as long as they are not relegated to a two year degree JUCU school by then. Seriously though, I can’t envision any conference inviting one without the other. Both schools have FBS G5 facilities and following already.

I understand both of your concerns with the post season. I feel the same way about playoffs vs a crappy bowl game. But I expect the G5 conferences will eventually be excluded from the new FBS playoff. The G5 conferences should evolve into a new second division and hopefully will have a playoff system to go with it. I also don’t think we can wait for that system to evolve. If we don’t jump soon, we will never get a chance down the road.

This is the way.

And to those referring to some also-ran bowl; let’s have a higher opinion for our Cats.

I know, right. However, PSU certainly didn’t embarrass themselves against the #3 team in the nation today. ISU only lost by 8 points to one of the best funded football programs in FCS. EWU doesn’t have the greatest stadium or funding but somehow manages to put up damn good football teams almost every year and a decent amount of players into the NFL. UNC is garbage but even they almost knocked off a ranked team today. Possibly playing in the Potato bowl in front of 10,000 fans or some sort of wished for playoff system in a FBS sub division would be so much better. I can’t wait until all these millions of dollars materialize to allow MSU to jump up. It will be awesome!

Not talking about their play. The location, the fans or lack of them. If we leave it up to you we’ll play in The Feedlot Bowl in Greeley every other year.

Big Sky officiating by itself should be a good reason to want to move up.

Yup, Albuquerque, Fresno, Laramie, and Reno are certainly garden spots in the US. Heck, quite a few MW teams don't even draw more fans than MSU does.

That maybe true but they draw more than PSU, UNC, EWU, ISU even on a bad day.

But I bet they draw those fans in college stadiums. We have a member that plays in a high school stadium.

But not the quality of competition then, just the stadiums and number of fans.
