I think Dan Davies is a stand up guy. Very diplomatic in everything I have seen him do. A huge Bobcat fan. Probably not the most outgoing individual, but a very solid candidate. Though it appears Fields isn't leaving MSU in the near future.
Yes, he is Kris Attebury's right hand man on the football broadcasts.

There is little to no information on the CSU AD job on their website, the Fort Collins newspaper, or the Denver Post / Rocky Mountain News. They have hired an outside firm to conduct the search and everthing is being kept under wraps. I think Peter Fields' denial of the opening seems suspicious, they always say that and then bolt. Then again, maybe that is the case.

I know who he isBozCatFan wrote:I'd be surprised if most Cat fans even know who Dan Davies is or have even heard of him. That is not to say that he would not make a good AD, but he doesn't appear to have the personality that is needed in order to connect with people. He is a heck of a nice guy and has worked at MSU for a long time. I'm sure he knows the ropes and has some connections but definitely not as likeable to the average fan as Parker or Gantt.

Bruce Parker would seem to be a great fit for this job if it comes open. However I hope he doesn't get it. (As my luck goes he probably will).
Why? Bruce is absolutely one of the best if not THE best NAIA Athletic Directors in the country. The Victory Sports Network (my company that promotes NAIA athletics) has seen many of the great things that Bruce has done in the last few years at Carroll.
He spent many . . . many years with MSU prior to going to Carroll. He is a great fundraiser making him a great business person as well as an AD. He knows athletics and he is not the sort of guy who seems like he will "clean house" if he gets the job. Plus he understands the media.
MSU Grad, Montana Guy, Media Guy, Great Fundraiser, Former Employee of MSU, and Current AD at the most successful NAIA school in the country. I'd hope to God he at least gets a sniff at the job. I'm not saying he's the end all be all for the job because I am not that close to the situation. But it would at least seem to me like he should be on the short list.

Although I am not in the know on details etc, I for one think Parker would be a solid choice.... if the AD job was open. But... it is NOT and Fields has publically stated he intends to remain the Bobcat AD for the "forseeable future". An I am glad of that because I think he has done a first rate job since stepping into a tough situation.

Why is this still a discussion when Mr. Fields has stated that he isn't a candidate for the CSU job. Is there something I don't know? There is no word or indication that he is leaving MSU so lets not run him out the door. We need someone in place that can guide the process to hire the next basketball coach and do it quickly. Peter Fields is the guy to do the job so until we hear differently lets not assume Mr. Fields is going anywhere.

Old-Don't think too many people agree with you about bruce....do you know people in the athletic department from which you say he left baggage? I think that you just have something personal against bruce, maybe you are a big fan of the other schools in the frontier and are sick of his teams winning? Hee hee jk

CSU has hired an outside consulting firm to search for their AD and everyone is very tight lipped about it. I looked all over the newspapers in Fort Collins and Denver and found nothing. I even looked at ramnation.com and didn't even see it mentioned. It seems they would make it a little more public, but it is interesting how they are handling it so "behind the scenes". There is nothing to either validate or negate Peter Fields' claims to be staying here for the forseeable future. Time will tell, I guess.

Davies is a Sugarbeeter, I did not know that! It would be pretty cool to see a Sugarbeeter as AD.
IF any of you follow NAIA athletics, you need to check out Jason Dannely's site the Victory Sports Network it is great information about everything NAIA related and some really passionate and knowledgeable fans who promote the NAIA and the Frontier Conference especially. You should see the message board during Tech/Carroll football weeks.
Jason, Nice job on the Carroll hoop broadcast with Bruce this weekend.

CSU announced today that their new AD is Paul Kowalczyk who has been the athletic director at Southern Illinois since 2000.
