It's not the new run out song. I'm fine with that. There were a couple new songs that play for the first time. Sorry, but they were awful. If your going to play some new music, play some damn Red Dirt County. Cody Jinks, Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers, just to names a few. We're the State Of Montana Ag School. We have our rodeo team lead our football team out. Don't play some new bubble gum crap, that sounds like Baby Shark.

I like those bands a lot, but nobody is getting hype to those. The general idea with stadium music is they even if you don’t know the lyrics, it’s got a fun/cool beat.

I believe the term ESG was around before it was placed into Mony Mony. I first recall hearing it less than 10 years ago in Mony Mony. I think it is a relatively new thing.

I was in Bozeman in the late 70’s. I can remember being in Missoula at a Cat Gris game at the old Dornblaser Dield and the Cats won. Ended up at the Little Big Men pizza out on Brooks and Cat fans started chanting ESGGCG… Mony Mony was not a part of it then

I really haven't had an issue with music or videos this season. Think the stadium crew is doing a fantastic job.

What I haven't enjoyed, however, us that awful "school" song they keep trying to shove down our throats as the "new tradition." What is it called - Fair Montana State or something? Ugh...talk about kill the excitement in the stadium. Nobody knows the song or the words. Just brings the energy down in my opinion...

I agree, it slows thing down, but I am willing to give it time to grow. The best traditions are ones that aren’t forced. Mony Mony just grew on its own and not from some idea put out there from the marketing staff. I believe the Rodeo team ride out was actually an idea put out by fans after seeing a hype video from MSU that had the horses riding on the field.

Gold Rush is a good marketing staff idea though.

I don’t believe you are going to find a definitive answer for that question. If you read this whole thread, ESG GCG has been around for decades, even before the Billy Idol version of Mony Mony came out. Most likely, the use of ESG GCG just morphed into the song over time. After the Billy Idol version of Mony Mony came out, people started adding other racy lyrics to it. I remember singing; “Get laid, Get F#@$ed” to Mony Mony. I’m guessing that ESG GCG was slowly added over time until it just became part of the song for Cat fans.
