Sitting here, reading all these responses to my call for the players to demand the best from themselves and each other, I thought back to last year's Griz team.
About this point in the 2004 season, the Griz were 6-2, having survived a couple of 3 point wins versus ISU & EWU, and a loss at PSU. Everyone knew they had a solid offense but their D was yielding TONS of yards, if not a lot of points. It appeared as though their D would PREVENT them from going far in the playoffs.
What happened to them over the next 2 months is what we should all be stressing to OUR team THIS SEASON.
Somehow, someway, the 2004 Griz FOUND A WAY to win 6 straight games and ended up rolling into the National Championship game. Although the D was not dominant, they did play well enough to win out in the Big Sky and secure that key home game in the first round. Once they reached the playoffs, a Defense that was below-average at best during the regular season suddenly took a huge leap forward and combined with a RED-hot QB to demolish their first 3 post-season foes and propel them to Chattanooga.
It can happen, folks; history proves it can happen.

Just wondering what you saw that made you think Bergquist got lucky... facing four top 25 teams his first four collegiate starts, including one of the best defensive squads in the country in Cal Poly.Hell's Bells wrote:yeah and now all of a sudden they have a qb that gets luckey and BH should not be fired or is not taking the program down with him
I thought he'd actually done pretty well, all things considered. The fact that it was four weeks in a row made me think it had more to do with skill than luck, but that's just me.

Awesome running game my friend. Takes a whole bunch of pressure off your QB. All Berquist needs to do is the dink and dunk and make them be honest and Lex will do the rest.SeeHarg wrote:Just wondering what you saw that made you think Bergquist got lucky... facing four top 25 teams his first four collegiate starts, including one of the best defensive squads in the country in Cal Poly.Hell's Bells wrote:yeah and now all of a sudden they have a qb that gets luckey and BH should not be fired or is not taking the program down with him

Can't disagree with that.Hell's Bells wrote: just illistrating how things over on egriz has changed the last month
He's got a nice backfield behind him, sure, but he's faced _really_ good defenses. I've seen the last two games in person, and he's played with a great deal of poise and demonstrated a lot of skill especially for someone so young. Plus, he throws a pretty nice long ball.
I just don't think his success has had that much to do with luck izallumsayin'.

When looking at this year's Cat team compared to last year's Griz team, there are alot of similarities. Senior leadership, spearheaded by a strong QB. A good core of WRs. A bend but don't break defense that suffered an early big loss, and a couple of close games. The main difference I see is the running game, but can be overcome. What I'm trying to say is that it wouldn't suprise me in the least if the Cats made a run like the Griz last year in the playoffs. It would take some things going their way (gaining home field by way of the top 2 seeds losing helped us), but it could happen. And if the Cats make it further than the Griz, I will be there to congratulate them.El_Gato wrote:Sitting here, reading all these responses to my call for the players to demand the best from themselves and each other, I thought back to last year's Griz team.

El Gato, I see that your favorite poster over at esugar.com is the same as mine......fat boy Fizzle. You know, the guy who loves to "correct" every poster who makes an objective post about the Griz. This guy supposedly played college football. I played college football, and I have NEVER witnessed the level of sheer lameness from anyone I know of who played the game. I think he played flag football.
Consider the source with that blowhard and don't give him the time of day. He has been providing cheap amusement for several years to us Griz fans. He and his lame-*ssed flock of sheep followers provide a new low in football knowledge.
Keeep givin' him hell, my man!

I hope that the Bobcat monitors will remove you from the board. It is rather obvious from your screen name that your only agenda is to dis me. You're not smart enough to do so, however.
I'm quite sure that you are the same obessed blowhard who poisons esugar.com on a daily basis with your self-serving rhetoric. I won't say your alter screen name over there, but it rhymes with Jizzpacker1.

that the griz are posting family laundry (smack) on BN is truly hilarious...i personally get the impression there is a ton of insecurity after the game with nau...lex did not perform...cb did not perform well as expected and now their "performance anxiety" is spilling onto BN...i guess it is appropriate...after all it's all about the griz isn't it....?????

we actually met at the nau game, do you not remember? shook hands, you introduced yourself (had a bit too drink though, didn't you). i looked you in the eye and began to squeeze a bit tighter as i got close enough to smell your foul breath. then you started to get uncomfortable and tried to pull away, and quickly walked back to your group of 'friends' trying to get the blood to start flowing back into your hands.
short term memory loss ole' chap?
