Home field. So we can watch the cats clobber a DSU at Bobcat Firld before clobbering the other DSU in Nashville.

We just had homefield advantage...and lost. And you think we're making it to Nashville?

Not going to comment about the game. Most everything that can be said about good and bad has been said.
Isn’t the relevance of this game, that we can win the rest of our regular season games and unless SDSU or NDSU loses 2 games, we will not have home field advantage in the semis. When is the last time the visiting team won in the semis? Id guess the odds are not in our favor to return to the championship game.
Yeah, but there's decent chance that one of the DSUs loses to another good MVFC team...I think both play SD on the road & Illinois State is supposed to be good.
I think the ideal (at this point) would be for NDSU to lose 2 & SDSU to run the table, especially if SDSU beat NDSU soundly in Brookings.
But yeah, the big deal is that Cats no longer control their destiny...Cats need to win out AND get some help from the Yotes or the Fighting Hawks or someone else.

We are two nonconference games into the season and we don't control our own destiny? Where does that come from? The amount of Quit on this message board is outstanding.
Cats control their own destiny for a #3 seed and home field through the QF. To get a home game in the semis, Cats need some help. Thats not quit, its reality.
Cats control their own destiny period. Win the conference and every game in the playoffs, and we are National Champs. How is that not controlling our own destiny. No larger reality than that. I guess you are saying if we play on the road in the playoffs, we lose?
Come on now, even without studying the history of the outcomes of semifinal games of FCS football playoffs you know perfectly well that it would be to the MSU Bobcat's advantage to play a semifinal game at home.
Location (destination) of the semifinal game matters and because of last night's loss the Cats do not have control of that location and therefore do not control their destiny the same as they would've with a victory last night.
Study that history it will guide and enlighten you.

If SDSU wins out NDSU will have at least 1 loss. Cats could still get the 2 seed.

And wild monkeys might fly out of my butt. Stick a fork in the Cats. We're done.
Yeah, we'll get some wins throughout the season, but to think that we make it past (or even into) the quarters? Delusional.

We still control our own destiny. It's not that hard to fathom. It's amazing how many people are studying the history and are now ****** the season. Losing in overtime to a very good SDSU team means we won’t make it to the quarterfinals?
Momma always said not to argue with crazy, but you’re making it hard.

To the quarters? Sure. What kind of odds would you give for such a delusional thought?

What an intense game that was! Both teams displayed equal parts tremendous grit & frustrating sloppiness. Missed FG's, punting mishaps, lost fumbles...... everything one team did seemed to get matched by the other. Both teams defenses are way ahead of the offenses at this point which probably led to a lot of that sloppiness, but both teams did shoot themselves in the foot quite a bit as well. Game probably should've ended in an old school tie but coin-flip that is the OT rules just happened to land in our favor. Would not be surprised at all if we meet up again later this year.

Isn’t fairly simple. If both SDSU and the Cats win out, it will be difficult for us to get a 2 seed. NDSU will have to have 2 D1 losses. It’s extremely difficult to walk away with a semi win in someone else’s home.
Been cheering for the Cats for a long long long time, so I am going to continue to show up at all the home games and perhaps a road game or 2 and hope for the best. Just saying it just got a lot more difficult to make it to Nashville.

You can look at the performance of the Cats on the road in Fargo & Brookings in the last few years. One close loss (on an egregiously bad review) & 2 blowout losses.PortlandCat90 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 07, 2025 8:53 pmWe still control our own destiny. It's not that hard to fathom. At home? Cats are 1 blowout win & 2 close losses.
It's a lot tougher to win on the road in the playoffs. But I'm not sure how that means that we've 'given up'.

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned, and granted I haven’t looked, their punter was incredible. Flipped the field consistently with great hang time. Limited Taco to 9 return yards and netted 47 yards per punt over 7 punts. Frokjer will get there, but we sure miss Hall.

He's got those sky high, non-returnable punts down. Outside of the muffed punt that we returned for the TD he was one of the best players on the field.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 12:53 pmOne thing I haven’t seen mentioned, and granted I haven’t looked, their punter was incredible. As far as our punt team goes, is Frokjer the problem or is it the protection team? Is he too slow or are they just not getting the job done blocking? I haven't watched closely enough to tell, it's just scary every time we have to punt. When he gets them off they generally look good though.
Eastwood, did not make it. Ball out! Recovered, by Montana State!! The Bobcats hold!!! The Bobcats hold!!!

He's definitely slow getting it off....he takes an extra little hop right when he catches the ball. I also wonder if the ball is getting there a little later from the true freshman long snapper...maybe he just doesn't quite have the full zip on the ball yet?coloradocat wrote: ↑Mon Sep 08, 2025 1:01 pmHe's got those sky high, non-returnable punts down.
