The second signing period for high school players starts next Wednesday. Just looking at the current offers, I wouldn't expect more than handful of new signees. Looks like the Cats are still interested in high school defensive backs, a kicker, and maybe a receiver. There also looks to be also some interest in a quarterback but an offer hasn't been announced publicly yet.

I haven't seen much on the transfer side of things. There was an offer to a linebacker transfer out of Washington but he ended up signing with Reno. Obviously, transfers can announce a commitment and sign at any time, so nothing to worry about yet but we won't see them at Spring Ball.
Who do think might be leaning towards MSU?
The young man that was offered yesterday, Seth Johnson. I think Williams is leaning toward ULM. I have no idea what Boyd is thinking. I think Gardner goes to Eastern but I don't know if he has come on a visit yet and what kind of an offer he has. I would think Aaron Lee is just a PWO offer but I don't know that for a fact. I really don't know what the coaches are seeing in Lee but I'm not a great evaluator of talent. The rest of the known offers are September or older, so I have a feeling they aren't really on the board any longer.
The coaches have been paying more attention to Daveon Superales, a QB out of Puyallup. Keeton started following him recently too but the young man doesn't have an offer that I know of. He might be a surprise signing. I'm just speculating on all this though.

Oh, the kicker was only offered a PWO. I don't know if that's a standard offer for kickers but it seems to be kind of weak for a position that looks to be a big need for the Cats. Maybe there is some academic aid he could get as well.

I have to wonder if kicker is as big a need in the coaching staff's minds as it is for us as fans. Brendan Hall didn't miss a single kick for the first three games last year including crucially going 3/3 on FGs against SDSU to keep MSU in the game, but then missed a couple FGs against Weber and went downhill from there. Every single one of his misses went wide right, which suggests that there may have been a correctible mechanical flaw that he now has an entire offseason to work through. Bobcat Nation probably won't be happy to hear this but I think there's a pretty high chance that Hall starts the season again as MSU's placekicker in 2024.

Agree.
Best case scenario is Hall fixing whatever ailed him. He’s got an incredible leg.

Hall does have a very strong leg. I did notice that Hall didn't kick FGs very often at SMU, only two that I can see in their records and he missed both. SMU did have him kicking off and punting regularly, but not kicking FGs. Did he have the same accuracy issues at SMU that he had at MSU last season?

The day is coming when kickers will be obsolete. Kickoffs will go first. Put ball on 25.

I dream of a day when teams tell the ref that they are going for a TD or 3 at the start of a possession. If 3, then if can advance to the 30, then the ball is placed at the 7 and you get two shots at getting the ball in the end zone.

Anyone else think the graphics this year a subpar. Very hard to read.
I was just going to make the same comment. That Lime Green is hard to read.
No kidding. I sort of know his last name and I still can’t read it. Things don’t look the same out in the wild as they do on an expensive color-corrected hi-res monitor in a properly lighted workspace.

Same. May as well stop at the 30 since they’ve foregone the 6. Play is whistled dead at 30.

Tom I'm pretty open minded about a lot of rule changes, but I'm going to need a lot more convincing that this isn't a terrible idea.

Well, you’re 0 for 1 but in a good way with Williams committing.

Well, you’re 0 for 1 but in a good way with Williams committing.
Yeah, Williams was a surprise. I thought for sure after he de-committed from Texas State that that he would be leaning towards the FBS ULM offer. He seemed to be excited about ULM and it’s closer to his home. It looked like he canceled a visit to MSU to visit ULM too but he ended up coming to visit MSU later and that must have sealed the deal. Anyway, that’s why I hate making predictions.

The second signing period for high school players starts next Wednesday. Just looking at the current offers, I wouldn't expect more than handful of new signees. Looks like the Cats are still interested in high school defensive backs, a kicker, and maybe a receiver. 1 for 2 now! Possibly, 2 for 3 with Johnson.
