Just saying that players for teams who expect to be in the NC don't need gimmicks to get them pumped up.[/quote
I'm not understanding this line of thinking. So, should we be upset is someone uses country music before game to pump themselves up vs. Metallica, R&B, etc?
Should we start discussing whether or not you should be a vocal leader who rants and raves during the game?
While it is a team sport, all team sports are made up of individuals. If anyone thinks that Marcosus' face paint distracted from someone else's ability to play the game then evidently this team was not as focused as I thought.
I'm not saying that it distracted anyone or took away from their ability to play the game. I'm saying it looks silly. Do you really need face paint, music or anything else to get you pumped up to play a FCS playoff game? And I guess that I would say the same about the hair styles for the Cat/Griz.
It's Miami showing up for the Orange Bowl in fatigues. It's Brian Bosworth style, not Dick Butkus style. I am not saying that it effected the game and a lot of their generation probably liked it. I guess that I just prefer the "Act like you've been there before" school of thinking.

Thanks for clarifying your point.

Why is it different than Reggie Bush having his area code on his face with the glare strips. Oh and by the way, Mason had the same ones on for this game. Guys, write stuff on their shoes, gloves, etc. Whatever gets them up for the game. The main thing is I have seen this on his face for several games, many on TV. No one had a gripe until now. Whats the big deal.

Wearing face paint in a football game should not be a big deal. So why are we on page 2 of this thread?
Whenever a player goes where no player has gone before, it is open to fair comment. Neon Deon, Hollywood Henderson, Bob Sinclair (ate raw meat before games) all got a lot of notice and criticism because they pushed beyond conformity. I am ok with that even if it takes time to appreciate it.
What bothered me with LeBlanc's face paint was that it looked excessive, over the top and it was a distraction to the pride I felt watching what the Blue and Gold was achieving on the field (that MSU belonged on the big stage and had a legit shot at beating #1 until the WR pass/interception). This is how I feel no matter how well LeBlanc played.
in my humble and conservative opinion, smearing face paint all over your face was not an image I wanted to see representing MSU on National TV. I wouldn't want that image on the cover of the media guide, either. It sends the wrong message, which includes the word "undisciplined".
Maybe my brief observation on TV was unfair. You know how TV can distort tihings. How about somebody posting a picture of what we are talking about?

You yourself said you like things that take time to appreciate, then you turn around and critize something in a very similar situation?
I did hate however that the camera followed LeBlanc on the sideline for like a minute after the play.

Seriously? This is a topic? He has been doing this most of the season and I have never had a problem with it. The guy gets fired up to play football and has done a darn good job of it. BFD

I was also surprised to see so much yakking about this, when he has been doing it for a good 7 weeks.
