Pickle Barrell = best sandwiches
Columbo's = best pizza
Ferrarro's = best Italian
Rib & Chop House in Livingston = best steak, ribs, etc
Cafe Zydeco = best Cajun
Oasis & Land of Magic = can't go wrong but personally I don't think they are as good as they used to be
Pour House = best $10 prime rib on Friday nights. Not fancy but a heck of a deal. Get there early before they sell out!
Western Cafe = best greasy spoon breakfast but they'll be closed this weekend
Main Street Over Easy = probably the place for pre-game breakfast since the Western will be closed
Montana Ale Works & Boodles = last places you'd ever find me
Furman fans, plan on attending the fire-up party at Spectators on Friday night! It'll be a great place to start a wild weekend.

Yeah, but Pickle Barrell anywhere other than the little shop on College is not quite the same.tampa_griz wrote:One of my happiest days during my time in Missoula (except for the '95 NC of course) was the day they opened a local Pickle Barrel. There isn't a better hot sandwich anywhere.
Billings has a PB too, or did, and it's doesn't measure up. There's an experience to the one on College.
Of course, now I go to the yuppified downtown one simply because it's closer to my wife's work for us to meet downtown.
GO CATS!

Warning to any Furman fans thinking of taking in a Pickle Barrel sandwich from the shop on College: YOU CAN'T EAT IT THERE!!! There's no seating inside (hell, there's barely enough room to change your mind), and I doubt you'll want to dine on the mezzanine, I mean the one picnic table outside!
If you do go in there, just look around (that'll take a half a second) and realize that the owner's a GAZILLIONAIRE!!!

Then order a whole cheesesteak, get your two free pickles, go to a store to get a coke(I think he only stocks pepsi products) and have the ultimate taste sensation in Montana!El_Gato wrote:Warning to any Furman fans thinking of taking in a Pickle Barrel sandwich from the shop on College: YOU CAN'T EAT IT THERE!!! I used to work at the Sub Station...I'm biased, but I always thought I made a better/bigger cheese steak then they did. Now, before I get lambasted for my blasphemy, I used to challenge my customers that if they could eat a footlong of my pepper and onion cheesesteaks, I would buy it for them; I never paid for onecatsrback76 wrote:The Bistro for dinner. Great food that has great features and a chef who know what he is doing.
Panama Red's for mexican if that is your taste.

My main reason for bringing this up is that I had a craving earlier today while out shopping for Thanksgiving stuff. So, tonight I'm sitting here waiting for some **##*#*# relatives to show up so that I can finish making my supper; a pepper and onion cheesesteak with mushrooms and provolone...mmmmmmm!!!!!!!

OMG!
I haven't thought of a Pickle Barrel cheese steak (whole) in 20 years! Can you still get a pork chop sandwich at Pork Chop Johns? I ordered the patties from the headquaters in Butte last summer and had a case of 'em shipped to Boise and it brought back a lot of memories, but it wasn't quite as good as one made in-house! I miss Taco Johns too. The last one around here closed down 3 years ago.
Rolled a few kegs out of Joe's Parkway in our day too!

As I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky, I couldn't help but think to myself: "Where the @#!$ is the ceiling!"

Friday night night has to be Sir Scott's (in Manhattan, 20 miles west of town) or Boodles on Main Street. Saturday morning be at Spectator's at 8:00 am and mingle w/ the crowd, one of the best pre-game bars in the country w/ incredible scenery (if you know what I mean). After the game stop by the Pickle Barrel, on College Street, and order a Cheese Steak if its cold or a Bobcat if its nice out. For late Saturday night hit Santa Fe Red's for some nice "whale tales" and Mexican as well as TVs to watch the other games that evening, or go back to Spec's and watch every game that's being played pure college football fans!
