That would leave fourteen teams (Massachusetts, New Hampshire & James Madison from the Atlantic-10) (Coastal Carolina) (Montana from the BSC)(Youngstown St., Illinois St. & Southern Illinois from the Gateway) (Hampton from the MEAC) (Lafayette from the Patriot) (Appalachian St & Furman from the Southern) (McNeese St. from the Southland) & (Tennessee-Martin from the Ohio Valley) with two more to choose for the field of sixteen.

Northern Iowa @ 7 - 4 defeating Illinois St. will be hard to pass up; leaving one spot left IMHO between either 7 - 4 Towson, 7 - 4 Wofford, 7 - 4 Cal Poly (if eligible), 7 - 4 Portland St. or 7 - 4 MSU to round out the playing field. This is but an educated guess at best without my personal input into the selecting situation but if it was up to me this is how I'd view it.
For what it's worth.

I sure would like to see MSU get an invite, but don't know if it's going to happen.
I'm going back to what I used to tell 'Cat friends during "the streak." You don't have to beat Montana to make the playoffs. You beat everyone else and you'll not only get in, you'll be 10-1 and earn a seed.
The MSU team that showed up today had no business losing to eastern, chadron or Davis. I'd be interested in anyone explaining how it is that MSU teams can wind up playing for the Big Sky title year in and year out, but somehow stub their toe during the first half of the season.

I think Anaconda has it precisely correct. Those are identical to my picks.

He says MSU is the last team out. So if he says that then we're very close. Since he has PSU in, I'm feeling even more confident about this. He had Youngstwon going last year at this tiame and they didn't make it. He's assuming the SSU AD is either going with PSU or that he will be persuaded by the committee to take PSU over MSU.

You can knock MSU for losing to Chadron all you want, but remember CSC is 11-0 or 10-0 with a bye in the D2 playoffs. It isn't that bad of a loss. MSU is the team that went 6-1 over last seven not team that last three straight way back in Sept. PSU is 4-3 in its last seven, including 14-0 to us. Lost by same margin to UM at home as we did on road. Oregon and Cal losing yesterday will drop them. That will hurt their RPI because I'm pretty sure you get bonus points if your opponents are in the top 25 and Oregon is no longer in there. Cal might fall out too with back to back losses.

Wow, I love the matchup he has for PSU (which will be us).

Those certainly seem to be the consensus picks for the at-large teams...the good news is that the committee tends not to go with the consensus picks. There should be 1 or 2 surprises, perhaps MSU could be one of them. Only 4 more hours...

I had to bump this, because my shoulder was getting sore from patting myself on the back.

OK, I'll shut up about it now.

Nice job crazycat. Nice homework, and way to show some faith. Seemed like we had plenty of folks pulling for PSU for some reason, I really couldn't see it myself.

There is a little justice in this old world! Let's kick it Cats!

Except for #7 & #8.

I don't see Eastern Illinois in over UNI (Northern Iowa). UNI beat the #4 I-AA seeded Youngstown St. 31 - 23 (16 Oct 06) whose only other loss was to Penn St. They also defeated at the time #6 Illinois St. last weekend.
Eastern Illinois has only three out of eight (of an 8 - 4 record) wins over teams that have at least a .500 record (all 6 - 5 ) and none of them rated in the top 25 in the I-AA polls.

For the eighth spot it was either Towson, PSU, Cal Poly (if eligible) or MSU, all @ 7 - 4.
