Re: Honest question
If you had asked this question back in 2001, you would have received a lot of beat the griz answers. Since the rivalry has evened out, I think almost everyone would now say win the natty.....as that's the next big goal we haven't accomplished in recent years. But beating UM is a close second.BobcatBuiltTexan wrote: ↑Thu Nov 20, 2025 8:43 pmAs a Bobcat fan if you have to choose.. no picking both..... would you rather win cat-griz and not win a natty or win the natty and lose cat-griz?
Personally I've been a part of a lot if rivalries that matter... I'm always focused on the big picture. Give me a natty while kissing to my rival over beating my rival and not winning a natty. Nobody outside of Montana really good cat-griz as a measuring stick of greatness....I always seek greatness... winning a natty is greatness and puts you in the records of one of the greatest teams.
I really would like to hear how yall approach this thought. I know in Texas, they are more concerned with beating their rivals which in turn had them not in the natty conversation.
If you would ask, win the conference and lose to the griz, vs beat the griz, but lose the conference....I think the overwhelming answer would be beat the griz.

Re: Honest question
Natty! I was just talking to someone about this yesterday. I don't look at Cat /griz nearly the same now as I did 10-15 years ago. This game used to define our season for me. Losing record, no playoffs... who cares? As long as we beat the griz! That's not the case anymore. Now it's looking forward to playoff seeding and NC goals. It's definitely a great time to be a Bobcat!
Some people are a lot like slinkies....... Not really good for much, but it puts a smile on your face to watch them fall down a set of stairs.

Re: Honest question
Yep good points. 25 years ago lots of people would have said beat the griz because we were so bad that landing on Mars seemed as easy as winning a Natty.wbtfg wrote: ↑Fri Nov 21, 2025 9:42 amIf you had asked this question back in 2001, you would have received a lot of beat the griz answers. I'd also say much of it depends on just that; the probability of winning it all. Right now in the FCS that should be the expectation year in and year in and year out. However, if we were to move up to FBS then our chance of winning a title would become zero percent. If that was to happen then I wouldn't care about anything else but beating Missoula.

Re: Honest question
Yeah for so long to even make the playoffs, we had to beat the Griz so they were interchangeable. But I can sure as hell tell you a natty in 2011 would've been Hella sweet!!

Re: Honest question
Natty, no question.
Not only would that be some sweet redemption after last year and 2021, but it moves the 3-2 narrative over the griz to 4-2. Even better!

griz fans; keeping it classy and gracious in winning since ... well, never.

Gotta go with Natty.... but with a few beers I could easily be swayed to gtapps corner. A lot of really ugly things happen to me there. In other words I could be bought gtapp.

Re: Honest question
Natty baby. I felt that way before we ever made it but now that I've gone to Frisco twice, I want that trophy.
The real question is how many years of Cat/Griz losses will I agree to if it wins one natty. 2, 3?

Re: Honest question
Let me answer your question with a question.
You are standing in the bar and 2 drop dead gorgeous ladies walk in. Which one do you take home?
My answer is both.
Just like my answer to your question.
Why settle for just one when the Cats can have both.

Re: Honest question
Natty.
We should beat the gris every year so it's not really a question. We've beat the gris 6 out of the last 8 games and should win today to go to 7 of 9. Maybe someday we'll get like NDSU when we can say we should win the Natty every year, but that ain't now. The answer has to be Natty.
