You’re right, sometimes we are a little too focused in on our rival. And I enjoy the interviews, Vigen is much more forthcoming than most coaches. You have great insight Tom, what stood out to you in the interviews this week? I’ve been impressed with our mentality and growth mindset this year so far.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 6:54 pmThis is my thought every week. If our QB Deiffenbach is healthy and has knocked off some of the rust (he missed 2 1/2 games with an injury and struggled last week in Missoula in the 2nd half) we should give you a competitive game. If not it could get ugly. Anyone traveling to SLO for the game?
This years Cats will be different than the last few times we have played as we are much more balanced on offense. Our defense has been a brick wall so far, however, the Ducks game did no favors for our defensive stats.
As of now, what’s the game day forecast looking like?

I live in SLO and my brother is flying down from Montana to go to the game with us! Probably going to meet up with my old MSU track buddy, Mac, who will also be there. I try to watch Poly play a few games every year, and it finally looks like they may be getting there.SloStang wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 7:15 pmLooking forward to the Bobcats visiting San Luis Obispo. Re: Cal Poly sneaky
I'm looking forward to the match up with Cal Poly in SLO this weekend. I really don't know why I didn't make this trip of all away games this year, San Luis Obispo is a beautiful place.
This will be a similar start as Idaho State a couple weeks back. Solid offensive play, back and forth before the Bobcat defense gets home a few times, disrupts some drives and gives the offense an extra possession or two in the first half.
I think the second half will be all Cats as we've seen throughout Big Sky Conference play. I predict a 35-14 or 42-17 win. I want to see Dane Steel get into the end zone again. I'll be looking to see how Sterbick incorporates Rocky Lencioni in the gameplan this week. You can tell he switched positions from receiver with how he moved on the sweep for a TD at NAU and the short drag that went for a 20+ yard TD against ISU. Get him in space and see what happens. I want to see a deep connection to Chris Long and I'm excited to see the game that Jabez Woods brings. He has been a stud this year. With some more time to gel with the Offensive line, I think we will see a balanced gameplan that gets Adam Jones free for some big gains and lets Julius Davis do Julius Davis things.
I'm Looking forward to watching the defensive line play. The four down package they use with the smaller guys looks to be disruptive in the run game and able to put pressure on the passer. It will be interesting to see who Cal Poly plays at QB more. I think the big 6'6" QB will be BBQ chicken with the pressure off the edge by Kenny Eiden and the corners flying around the field in coverage.
Cal Poly has played well up to this point and will give the Bobcats a damn good fight. The Bobcats are playing complimentary football and will install some new schemes over the bye week that will start separating the team from the rest of the Big Sky. If they are as good as I think they are, and many on this board claim, they should win convincingly going away.

Re: Cal Poly sneaky
I don’t think they’ve had a winning season since 2016. They went 7-4 and lost to San Diego in the playoffs. I think just one season over three wins since then. They got away from the triple(?) option, which was their bread and butter for a long time, and that coincided with their drop off.
They’re 3-4 now so probably lots of positive energy going to try to go .500 or better. Home games vs MSU, PSU and EWU remaining. Road games at ISU and NAU.

MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Not to mention they didn't play their first game until a few teams had already played three. Don't know if that's an advantage or disadvantage though. That's a lot more practice before actually playing a game.84CatGrad wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 8:11 pmThe mighty frizzzzzzzz have played one road game so far. We haven't missed a game in SLO for the last 10 years and we will be there Saturday. If you haven't been there, I highly recommend it. Great costal environment without the crowds and offers great food and wine.
The games have been hit or miss from overtime to outrageous blowouts. I agree that Cal Poly is definitely improved but not likely to pull off an upset here. I like -he Cats 45 - 10.

While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

I am a fan of SLO. Great place. Really love the American Seafood Restaurant, I think that is the right name.

Hey @SloStang - My wife and I are flying from Montana. We will pick up our daughter (who now lives in Encinco) as well as her boyfriend to head to SLO for the game. We arrive on Friday afternoon. Any advice on good dining spots and bars? All I hear are great things about SLO. Go Cats!SloStang wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 7:15 pmLooking forward to the Bobcats visiting San Luis Obispo. I will throw out a suggestion, the Great American Fish Company in Moro Bay. It was always great but we haven’t been there in probably 10-12 years. Be interesting to see what the SLO natives say.RockyBearCat wrote: ↑Wed Oct 22, 2025 11:30 amHey @SloStang - My wife and I are flying from Montana. Eh. It's early in the week. Cats are playing a game in which we're favored by three scores. I'm looking forward to it, but really not much to say about it.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 6:54 pmThis is my thought every week. In regards to the griz, it was comments made about a game I didn't even know was being played Friday night. Now maybe I'll tune in. And it was grade school trash talk coming from the president of a university which I don't think I have even seen in my life. So for me, on a Monday and Tuesday, I found myself more entertained by the Sac/Panda back and forth than anything regarding Cal Poly.
That will change foe me personally in a few days.
