Offense averaged 3.4 points per drive. Against San Diego they were at 4.1 points per drive. It’s not a significant difference.

No matter how often anomalies happen in sports - and they happen every day - fans refuse to acknowledge them. Just yesterday Cal Raleigh hit his 60th home run and Cleveland took the lead in the AL Central after trailing by 17 games - first time a catcher did that and first time a team did that in the history of MLB baseball. Everyone realizes that just because those two things happened this year, it doesn't mean they're going to happen again next year. Yet, Mercyhurst "holding" MSU to 17 points or something similar, is something some fans think every team can do now.
MSU - 17 team National Champions (most recent 2025); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Re: EWU vs MSU Prediction Thread
I just want people to realize that MSU’s scoring output had more to do with MSU’s defense than their offense. Offense just didn’t get the ball very much. And I’m not even saying the defense played bad, I think the game plan was bad, but understandable at the same time. They were playing it very safe.TomCat88 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:07 amBelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 8:26 amOffense averaged 3.4 points per drive. And I’m not trying explain why it happened, just that stuff like this happens and sometimes you’re in the middle of it. Most perfect games pitched aren’t by elite pitchers. The examples are limitless.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 9:15 amI just want people to realize that MSU’s scoring output had more to do with MSU’s defense than their offense. One of my favorites: Joe Kapp is tied for the NFL record for TD passes (7) in a game. He only threw 33 in the other 50 nfl games he played in.

We seem to struggle with the QB +1 run game (or at least we did last year against these guys) so I'm going to say:

Their quarterback ran 21 times for 65 yards. Really struggled!

I believe Wortham’s long run came when he was at QB.iaafan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 1:45 pmblueandgoldblitz wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 10:29 amWe seem to struggle with the QB +1 run game (or at least we did last year against these guys) so I'm going to say:

Re: EWU vs MSU Prediction Thread
It was and Wortham faked a double reverse. And O’Reilly was held. EWU quarterback didn’t play so the defense had to scramble a bit. Mellott threw a bad pick.VimSince03 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 3:20 pmI think that was a reverse.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 3:15 pmI believe Wortham’s long run came when he was at QB.iaafan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 1:45 pmblueandgoldblitz wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 10:29 amWe seem to struggle with the QB +1 run game (or at least we did last year against these guys) so I'm going to say:

Re: EWU vs MSU Prediction Thread
Bad memory on my part then. I felt like their QB ran all over us, but I'm obviously mistaken. My memory of the game was that they kept getting 4 yards a carry and moving the chains little by little and it was very frustratingiaafan wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 1:45 pmblueandgoldblitz wrote: ↑Thu Sep 25, 2025 10:29 amWe seem to struggle with the QB +1 run game (or at least we did last year against these guys) so I'm going to say:
