Re: Theis
He’s good but I didn’t see anything that would make him amongst the best backs I’ve watched in person. That long TD was a surprise but he was mostly contained after other than getting some first downs. They’re a good team and should move the ball at times.
I was just glad they limited the touches by #3. He was the fastest guy on the field when they had the ball.

Theis is listed at 5’11” 215 and Larison at 6’0” 216.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:57 amNope, bigger than Larison. Re: Theis
He had a combination of acceleration and tackle breaking power that I haven’t seen at any other time this season outside of maybe Larison.PapaG wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 12:23 pmHe’s good but I didn’t see anything that would make him amongst the best backs I’ve watched in person. I didn't think he had breakaway speed. Long run was good job using blocks, cutting and acceleration. PIERRE had the speed and he showed it on 2nd TD. 2 good plays by them, good run D rest of way. But surprising they stuck with passing game over running when YPC was good.

Yeah but Woodhead was like 5'8" 185 when he played the Cats. Significantly smaller than Larison or Theis. Better top end speed.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 2:49 pmWoodhead had a decent career in the NFL, .. but whatever lord..Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:45 amTheis is way bigger and a much more powerful runner than Woodhead.Bobcatsinmso wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:02 amDanny Woodhead clone. Interesting, he just looked a lot bigger than Larison. Must have been his type of shoulder pads...?Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 1:15 pmTheis is listed at 5’11” 215 and Larison at 6’0” 216.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 8:57 amNope, bigger than Larison. Woodhead was electric. That could be. Or it could just be that he plays big. He must have looked that way to a lot of people, because a lot of the comp’s in this thread are to guys who were 230+.grizzh8r wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 3:03 pmInteresting, he just looked a lot bigger than Larison. Haha, that's what I said to one of our group, i think my exact words were "he looks like he's 6', 235..."Lord Vigo wrote: ↑Sun Dec 22, 2024 5:34 pmThat could be. Re: Theis
Even after coming back from locker room you could tell he was still playing in pain at times. As he “tapped out” several times he was carrying his arm awkward as he came off….then would go back in and attack again. I’m a bit older than some on board but it was a brave performance and honestly I was thinking this is a Paul Schafer type performance….it was in a similar vain.

Re: Theis
Not even close. Paul had 38 carries against the Griz in Missoula...ran for like 240 yards and had a separated shoulder you could see when he walked. He just had 'em snap his shoukder back in place, strap him up and he went back in. Maybe a small bit like Paul, but no where near...

The sophomore running back from Great Falls carried the Bobcats to the stunning win by carrying the ball 58 times for 234 yards. His scoring plunge with 12 seconds to play provided the winning margin (although it took a game-saving tackle by Terry Brown deep in Bobcat territory to preserve the victory).
According to Pat Kearney's brilliant book The Divide War, Schafer played the second half with cotton in his mouth to stop the bleeding from cuts and also played with a recently repaired separated shoulder and what proved to be a blown out knee. Led by Schafer, Erickson and brilliant flanker Ron Bain Montana State had scored 20 points in the game's final nine minutes.
