Re: The most unofficial Bobcat gameday thread - UT Martin, 2nd round
The major unknown is the quality of rushing teams they played. I don’t believe they’ve played anyone inside the top 50 in rushing.RobertSebastianCat-81 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:19 amThere has been some discussion this past week from Cat fans who predict we are going to beat UT-Martin by at least 2 touchdowns. I sure hope so, but I haven't seen anyone mention that UT-Martin is currently 5th in the nation in Rushing Defense (avg 85 yds./game), 3rd in Passes Intercepted (19), and 8th in 3rd Down Conversion Percentage Defense (29.5%). I hope we have a game plan that considers these statistics. I think we have played very wisely this year with respect to this and other aspects that have accounted for injury management, long term vision, and development of the entire team. Go CATS!

Their FCS schedule has faced the following ranked rushing offenses:RobertSebastianCat-81 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:19 amThere has been some discussion this past week from Cat fans who predict we are going to beat UT-Martin by at least 2 touchdowns. Wife’s birthday weekend so we’re watching both Cats and Gris in the living room with family. Gave away my ticket.
My first time wanting the Gris to win in so long I can’t recall the last. Knocking out SDSU works for me.
I’m getting Bill and Mary vibes from the UT-Martin side.

That's the big factor that will decide how this game looks. We're going to win. But can their statistically vaunted rush Defense hold up to a big boy rushing attack? If it can, this game is close for awhile. If, as i expect, they can't, it'll be like the montana game. The vise will clamp down and the game will never be in doubt.

I keep saying that I'll be cheering for the griz as well. But I'm betting as soon as the game starts, I become a Jackrabbit fan.PapaG wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:42 amWife’s birthday weekend so we’re watching both Cats and Gris in the living room with family. Gave away my ticket.

Some people are a lot like slinkies....... Not really good for much, but it puts a smile on your face to watch them fall down a set of stairs.

Their defensive front is good but not deep. Factor in the altitude and I expect them to get worn down by halftime.RobertSebastianCat-81 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:19 amThere has been some discussion this past week from Cat fans who predict we are going to beat UT-Martin by at least 2 touchdowns. I think they only count paid attendance for playoff games, so players, concessions, etc. probably don't get counted. I'm thinking there will be around 16,500. There's quite a bit more excitement about this team vs. the 2021 team. The weather is better (40mph winds last time).

I think that’s been the main talking point all week. As I said in another thread, I think we’ll know in the first possession or two if their run defense is as advertised. If so, it could be a dog fight. If not, it will be ugly.RobertSebastianCat-81 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 11:19 amThere has been some discussion this past week from Cat fans who predict we are going to beat UT-Martin by at least 2 touchdowns. Re: The most unofficial Bobcat gameday thread - UT Martin, 2nd round
I think one of my favorite parts of this ‘24 season has been guessing before each game (based on the opponents supposed strengths) how the first 9 plays would run for the Cat’s. Do we play strength on strength and test running it straight at them? Do we throw a surprise pass play on 2nd or 3rd down as they stack the box (after all, we can only run the ball, right?)wbtfg wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2024 12:12 pmI think that’s been the main talking point all week. I’ve been wrong more than right. I love it, it’s like Christmas every game over the first few series!

Scottre is taking some of the 1st team warm up reps, and looks to be moving pretty well.
Edit: Daily still has the club on his left hand as well.
