Just an interesting football-related sidenote about Elon Musk:
He has 11 children (one side of the LOS) and 18-year-old twins (boys, I believe), Saxon and Damian.

Please don't stop. What you do is appreciated by most. And the speculation of it all is fun.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:22 amSorry to upset you on this. I really don’t inject politics here like some folks like to, I’m just commenting on Twitter or X and the recent changes. Anyway, BN fans have been speculating on booms as long as there have been booms. When there has been a boom in the past and not an announcement of who the player is, it sets off interest in finding out who it’s for. It just kind of a fun and a bit of a diversion during the off season. I can see how some folks don’t get it though. BTW, this boom in for 2025.
I can also turn this recruiting stuff over to anyone else that wants to do it. Heck, do we really even need it? We can just wait for announcements instead. I just took over monitoring recruiting as kind of a fun thing to do in my off time but I am tiring a bit of doing it now.

You didn’t say anything other than Twitter has changed, which is factual. Please keep doing what you do, it’s informative.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 11:22 amSorry to upset you on this. Some people just can’t keep their politics off this board, however, but I’ll stop now since only one viewpoint gets reprimanded for it.

So, is it REALLY a Boom if there is no identity tied to it? I mean, Coach might be just ringing our bells just for some summer fun!

That depends, do they play football? Right age to commit to a college program if so.

I will say this, I only see one side really trying hard to inject their politics into discussion. So that might be why you think it's one-sided.

Please tell me the net positive changes he's made? I don't see them. Bots are worse. Amd that was one of his big talking points in the purchase.coloradocat wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 8:14 amA lot of people that can't handle Elon having different politics than their own have resorted to insults. I still think it's one of the young men that visited this weekend. Those recruits should all be getting home by today. Hopefully, we will read or hear an announcement soon. I'm leaning towards the Schneider kid from Minnesota, but that's just a hope and a guess.coachouert wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 12:54 pmSo Cats got a commit, huh? Maybe, we should focus on that…

I'm leaning the same way, it's tough to keep up with the current social media recruiting trends but the fact that he has MSU's offer pinned would seem to likely mean something.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:03 pmI still think it's one of the young men that visited this weekend. There appears to be a past connection, possibly a family friendship, with Vigen as well. Not exactly sure what it is yet though.MSU01 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 3:15 pmI'm leaning the same way, it's tough to keep up with the current social media recruiting trends but the fact that he has MSU's offer pinned would seem to likely mean something.AFCAT wrote: ↑Sun Jun 16, 2024 1:03 pmI still think it's one of the young men that visited this weekend. Re: First commit of 2025!!!
From a business perspective, calling it 'net positive' is questionable. Since Elon Musk acquired and rebranded Twitter as X, its usage in the US has declined by over 20%. The platform is now valued at about 70% less than its worth in October 2022. Additionally, Musk and X have encountered several lawsuits, reduced Twitter's workforce by 80%, and implemented numerous changes to the platform. While the company aims for profitability in 2024, Musk has acknowledged significant struggles with declining advertising revenue.coloradocat wrote: ↑Sat Jun 15, 2024 8:14 amA lot of people that can't handle Elon having different politics than their own have resorted to insults. Re: First commit of 2025!!!
This post is questionable. Bots used to run rampant on Twitter, so saying the usage dropped is a difficult data point to reference. The valuation was previously very high because almost all publicly traded companies see an uptick in pricing when it is in front of retail investors. Elon specifically knew he overpaid for the platform but that wasn't his motive. He dramatically reduced the workforce and yet the platform has added way more features. Like a lot of tech companies, there was a lot of fluff. He has also specifically said "F*** You" to advertisers if they wanted the platform to sensor data and posts. He sees it as future net positive because eventually the public sphere that is X will receive better advertisers that trust the platform. Nothing said was wrong, but the reasons and conclusions can be looked at dramatically different. The Butcher wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 7:54 amFrom a business perspective, calling it 'net positive' is questionable. Re: First commit of 2025!!!
A counterpoint would be he cut the workforce by 80% and it works just about as well as it did before. Getting rid of the bots and porn would be most excellent, but as long as you’re only looking at who you follow, I haven’t encountered any problems. The Butcher wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 7:54 amFrom a business perspective, calling it 'net positive' is questionable. Re: First commit of 2025!!!
Not sure why you think my comment is questionable. These numbers are factual. Few professionals in the business world will view favorably a company that has lost 70% of its value in less than two years under new ownership. Additionally, telling advertisers 'f*** you' is not a solid business tactic. Furthermore, bot activity on the platform is worse than ever, according to researchers, despite Musk, claiming a crackdown on bots as one of his key reasons for buying the company.CatAttack22 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 8:22 amThis post is questionable.
