That was a great game for our team. We got a lot of things accomplished that needed to get taken care of.

First of all Moss finally stepped up to become the leader of this team. This was the first game that he looked like he was actually having fun on the court. He also did a great job of working hard to get open.

Jefferson, played steady again. The best part about Ja'Ron is that he never forces anything.

Dis, once again didn't really show up

Durham: Played pretty well. He will really struggle against a full court trapping defense. He really needs to work on his ball handling if he is going to be our point guard.

Beye: He could be a force if could catch the ball

Morris: Gave some pretty solid minutes

Durr: By far the most improved player on the team. Right now I'd rather have Carson on the floor than Dissly. You can tell he has really worked hard on his game.

Edmonds: He is going to be a really good player. He reminded me a lot of Jefferson last night. Made his open shots, and had some nice aggressive drives. Overall, he played VERY well.

Wilson: I was also very impressed with Wilson. He played within himself, and didn't try to force anything. I thought he played VERY well for his first college game. I really expect his minutes to increase.

Free Throws: :bag:

Rebounding: Looked great last night.

Another thing that I noticed is that our trap isn't as effective this year as it was last. I can't tell if we just aren't doing a good job, or if teams are ready for it. It seems like teams are getting a lot of their points when we go to our trapping defense.

I would like to follow up and ask El Gato's question again. I didn't listen to the game, but how did we blow a 16 point lead? Did we revert to the slowdown offense or what?

We started playing a bit more conversvative, but we just went cold and turned the ball over a couple times at crucial points.

We were actually up 67-60 with under 2:00 left, and they score 8 straight until the last shot. They stole the ball twice, hit a three, converted a three point play, and made another bucked (not in that order). It was ridiculous. We couldn't score.

Lucky to win, but they should have never been in this game, we were dominating.

For the first and last time, my screen name has nothing to do with the Grizzlies. I graduated from MSU in '96.

And yes, Portland beat Oregon State at the Chiles Center. That probably says more about Oregon State than it does Portland, although Portland is a senior dominated team that had elevated expectations coming in to this season.

I gave credit for the win. It is (sadly) the most impressive win on the 'Cats resume this season. Let's build on it, go on an incredible tear, and get the focus back on basketball and not the lack of imagination or enthusiasm in the program.

The Portland fans aren't thinking too highly of losing to us-the actually sound a lot like us: http://www.oregonlive.com/forums/pilots/

I couldn't go to the game last night due to other commitments but I did see Durhams last second heroics on the news. What an amazing shot and what a well executed play I must say!. Of course the play might not have been necessary had Casey not thrown the ball away on the possession previous to Portland's go ahead three-but at least he made amends.

I'm hoping Edmonds gets more comfortable and relaxes and just plays. I think he'll be a much more consistent shooter than Miller was. I'm not sure about the rest of his game though-I just haven't seen enough of it.

PapaG. I did not refer to you as a grizzly fan. I just noted that Portland had beaten a Pac 10 team wether they are a good team or not. I also noted for all that McGillis is on that team. More a reference to the other bobcat fans that have been singing his praises and attacking the coaches for not recruiting him. That part had nothing to do with your prior comment.

Offensively, we just went cold. We did go to the slow down offense, and got some good looks at the baseket (I don't remember us chucking up any 3's at the shot clock buzzer). We just either missed the open shot or (in most cases) drew a foul and couldn't convert on the free throws.

Would someone please tell me how this team that was supposed to be so talented, deep, and experienced allowed Portland to outscore them by 17 points in 13 minutes (before the miracle shot)?
portland executed very well, and rarely missed . they did what they had to to put them in position to win. every team goes on runs, and they had a nice one. cats played good d, and only allowed 4 offensive rebounds. of these 4, only 2 were in the last 14 minutes, and one was by their guard who was on the ground and the ball fell in his lap! we get that one, and no miracle shot is necessary because they have to foul, and we make free throws. which brings us to a big problem. these guys gotta make some ever! 13-23 is horrible, especially when you look and see that 8 of the misses came in the last 10 minutes! gotta get better.
