LOL! One of my first memories as a bobcat fan was watching dewey storm down the court on a fast break and go up for a dunk. He rattled the rim alright, but the ball bounced off the back iron clear out to midcourt. I remember laughing so hard.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

I had almost forgot about this guy until Specs put a picture of him up in there back entry way.

Dewey was painful to watch.

Ferch - no question.

most here might be too young for Harry Heineken. As Catgrad pointed out, there was a time when you couldn't dunk. Then they changed the rule so you could dunk in the game, but not in warmups. Harry was one of the first Bobcat players in uniform after the rule change. He played guard, and had a wingspan of about 8' I swear. His classic move was intercept the guard-guard pass at the point and do an air-Jordan before there was an air-Jordan. So, Ferch gets my #1, and Harry gets my #2.

Also, there was nuthin' better than the student section chanting: "Hareee, Hareee, Hareee!

Wow, I can still hear the announcer calling out his name...6' (was it 10" or 11") Senior from Wheaton Illinois... Dwayne "Dewey" Michaels.

But before Harry there was Arnold McDowell. He's the first guy I recall dunking a basketball. Whenever he did dunk the fieldhouse crowd would stand and cheer for several minutes. I thought it was the coolest thing I ever saw. Heineken was also one of my favorites from the era, I remember spending many hours trying emulate his jump shot. He brought the ball way behind his head when his shot it-it looked unique because his arms were so long.

But for me Ferch was the best dunker we ever had-not even arguable.

I remember Ferch's first dunk. A strong drive down the lane finished with a behind the head jam. It was awesome.

Why does Mic control his players. You almost never see them taking dunk shoots. I guess it would excite the crowd to much.

Dan Trammell had a pretty good dunk against the cats

On this year's Griz team Dlouhy by far, that guy is an acrobat, he's had some impressive dunks while playing for the Griz

Damn you, Dan Trammell! He got one there, but he still looks like a Neanderthal. I've tried to surpress that one. As for Bobcat dunkers, I was too young to remember Kral Ferch, but he sounds like he was a good one. I also remember Dewey. Nate Holmstadt would throw one down from time to time. Even Kenny Plummer had some good ones when he was here. He was a lot of fun. I think Dissly will be remembered as a great dunker; he's been compared a lot to Ferch.

GO CATS!

Craig could put it down better than anyone... Well, if we are talking about the ability to be the most annoyingly unctuous and self-serving jackass in the history of network television.

Quite seriously, however, Ferch was by far the best.

In 1982 we had just moved to Montana and I was finishing high school in Bozeman. I had a Hawk basketball player in my AP English class who was telling me about their upcoming game against Livingston, who had a kid who could dunk at will. I didn't believe it at the time but Livingston's first offensive play was a fast break to Ferch who proceeded to dunk over the top of the guy in my English class.

I saw what I think was his first game as a Cat while I was home visiting. He came off the bench and immediately dunked. I thought it was pretty impressive for a true freshman to dunk on his first play in his first college game.

Ferch was definitely a piece of work.

Our best dunkers since Ferch would probaly be Quadre Lollis (he and Halter had that alley-oop thing going), Nico Harrison, Aaron Rich, and Nick Dissly.

Harrison and Rich had lots and lots of dunks, but they didn't dunk with the flair of Ferch. Ferch could take off early and sort of cradle the ball with his forearm and swing way over the top and throw it down. That he was left handed made his dunks look all the more unique. It was poetry in motion.

Harrsion almost always dunked two handed and his dunks all looked kind of similar-though every one was beautiful to me. Quadre got all his dunks in traffic inside. He has amazingly long arms.

Rich dunked a lot like Harrison.

Dissly can jump with anyone, but he almost seems bored dunking the ball-heck he's been doing it since what-the 8th grade? In someways that "been there, done that attitude" makes his dunking all the more cool.

I have a feeling that in about 3 years that Chawn Johnson will be on this list of the best dunkers. He is a physical specimen.
