Don't know if I agree with the 99.99% number, because there are a lot of dang smart FB geeks out there. One thing is certain, though, and that is both BH and Krames are willing to take a job that 99.99% of most FB geeks won't.catatac wrote:I totally agree. It was comical this year watching the "QB controversy" they had going on down the Interstate. Washington did not perform very well early in the season and all of a sudden all the armchair QB's in Griz Nation were convinced that Cole Bergquist was the better QB and should be starting. Bobby was just playing Washington because he promised him the starting spot to get him there. Sure thing. Bobby was more concerned with playing his guy and keeping a promise (I'm guessing Bobby didn't really promise anything) than winning games. Trust me people - he started the best QB the Griz had at the time, and while I'm not crazy about Bobby he does know more (just like Kramer) than 99.99% of the fanbase about football and judging QB's. When JW went down and CB became the man it bacame pretty evident that JW was the best they had, and he wasn't that good. The point of this rambling post... Kramer will start the guy that gives of the best shot of winning - and he will positively know better than any of us - who the best guy is, regardless of what we may see in the games.iaafan wrote:I don't understand why anyone would hope one player would start over another. I'd just hope that whoever's better starts. If Carpenter is real good, but Coppack or Rolovich is better, then I'd want one of those two to start. The better of the two of course. Better is better. I really believe that.
Another thing I don't understand (obviously you can do what you want) is why anyone would post that they don't like a player that just transferred. Nice Welcome Wagon.

I dont understand the people that think just because you are not a coach, you automatically know less about football than a coach does. Its not rocket science. I have been a football fan my whole life and played the game from age 8-18 and I think that most people on this board have a similar background. Just because I dont work at Hardees doesnt mean I dont know how to cook a burger.

Where did this come from (I didn't see a post where you were someone commented back).MM7CAT wrote:I dont understand the people that think just because you are not a coach, you automatically know less about football than a coach does. However, I know where you are coming from. Just because I didn't go to art school and studied and worked at being an artist doesn't mean I can't sell you a $10,000 painting (do you want one?). I've been drawing with crayons since I was 4.
Thinking about it, no better save your money, I know paintings and drawings, but I might not be as good as someone that does it for a living and has worked at only that for years and years and does it 10 hours a day.
If a coach doesn't know more than the average nation buff, he is not employeed long. Reason I don't paint for a living or coach football for a living at the college level.
However, there are openings at CU and SDSU and others that pay $150,000 a year plus incase you are one of the choosen.

As Tommy Boy said, "You can get a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking your head up a cow's ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it?"
In other words you can sit here and compare stats or even drop by a few practices, but Kramer (the butcher in this case) is probably a tad bit more in the know on who's the best QB.

I believe Larson had a some what of a bad home visit with coaches. Don't make a wish for a kid that could end up like a player we new and wished for from Big Sandy. I hope he comes to MSU but when he makes his choice he better be ready to play 100% physically and mentally! The Griz have offered him Gray shirt..... go figure!

What happend? Is this kid somesort of premadonna and was expecting some sort of star treatment? I hope not because it sounds like this kid can be very good. O'well if he chooses to go someplace else all the luck to him. I am sure Kramer has another High School QB in mind from somewhere else.Brick wrote:I believe Larson had a some what of a bad home visit with coaches. The Warriors play a couple of miles from my house, but that's not to say I've seen Rolovich play. The only people to have done that is the coaching staff. He was a red-shirt when Timmy Chang was lighting up the scoreboard, and the new quarterback for UH--Colt Brennan--looks every bit like the real deal. Reading the newspaper article about his transfer (which I've pasted below), he knew he wasn't going to play, and wanted to go to a school that needed his services.BobcatLionFan wrote:We know very little about the Hawaii kid, who has seen him play? and Kramer and the coaches have been watching Carpenter and Coppack in practice every day. So I think they are fairly knowledgible as to evaluating who and what.
Accept these additions as pluses. Not all will work, but the coaches (who I respect) do think they are reasonable to upgrade the team and keep it at the same level or higher.
I do think they will bring in a Freshman QB to redshirt. That may or may not be Larsen. Not sold that Larsen is a QB for a top 10 Div-IAA team. Might be, but that is his choice to work hard for, not just be given it.
That said, it means he's coming to Bozeman hungry--which is a very good thing, IMO.
So, on to the article:
The Honolulu Advertiser wrote:ROLOVICH WILL TRANSFER TO I-AA SCHOOL
November 8, 2005
Quarterback Jack Rolovich said he will transfer to a Division I-AA school, a move that will allow him to play during the 2006 season. He said he is considering UC Davis, Montana, Montana State and Eastern Washington.
If he transferred to another Division I school, he would have to redshirt in 2006, according to NCAA rules. There is no waiting period for a player transferring to a lower division.
"I want to be back in there," said Rolovich, a third-year sophomore. "I don't even know what it's like to throw a touchdown anymore. That's the reason I came out here, to play football. I didn't really feel like I was getting an opportunity to play."
Last week, Rolovich requested a release from his football scholarship, an action that would allow him to talk to other football teams. Jones signed the release Wednesday. Rolovich will remain on scholarship through the end of this semester.
"I totally enjoy Hawai'i," Rolovich said. "I'm not content with just going to school. It was nothing against the program or the guys. I love the guys. I love it out here. But I don't think I'm going to play. The only time I would play is if Colt (Brennan, the starting quarterback) were to get hurt, and I would never want that to happen. Colt's my friend. I would never wish him to get hurt. I'd rather go and try to compete again somewhere else."

Here is a snippet of an article......
HONOLULU -- Hawaii sophomore quarterback Jack Rolovich said he is transferring to Montana State in hopes of playing next season.
The 6-foot-3, 221-pound Rolovich won't be forced to sit out a season because Montana State is a Division I-AA program. Under NCAA rules, he would have been required to redshirt in 2006 if he transferred to another Division I school.
"I'm always going to keep a little bit of Hawaii in my heart," Rolovich said. "All the players were great to me."
Former Warriors running back Mike Bass, who just finished his senior season with the Bobcats, helped recruit Rolovich to Montana State.
"He said he loved it over there, even though the climate is a little different," Rolovich told the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. "The offense has some of the same concepts as UH, except they run the ball a lot more."
Rolovich, who chose Hawaii over California, did not take a snap this season and saw limited action in two games in 2004. He redshirted in 2003.
Last month, Rolovich requested a release from his football scholarship, which allowed him to talk with other schools. He also considered UC Davis, Montana and Eastern Washington.
Rolovich is the brother of former Hawaii quarterback Nick Rolovich, who led the Warriors to a 9-3 season in 2001 and holds the school record for passing yards in a game with 543.
