I am the first to admit that we Griz got it handed to us by the Cats.
But to say that the Cats should be in the playoffs with a 7-4 record is ridiculous. Cats could have, but didn't, get it done against Cal Poly, Portland State, or Eastern Washington. It is not the fault of the Griz schedule that the Cats didn't take care of business with the schedule that you had. If you are going to argue that Cats should be in the playoffs over the Griz, then why shouldn't PSU argue that they should be in the playoffs over the Cats?
Anyways, congrats on bragging rights for the State, and good luck until next year....and a hearty Mazeltof for Lulays upcoming graduation.

Back to what Sportin life said....The cats finished the season with a 7-4 record, 4 losses is not good enough to get you into the playoffs. The griz got dominated against the Cats, I have no problem what so ever saying that because were playing this saturday and well The Cats are sitting at home and when you break it down, THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERSbarechestcat wrote:Upset? Hell ya I'm upset. Why didn't our athletic director schedule a D-II team for us and a low level just coming up from D-II South Dakota State into our schedule? Why does our athletic department honor contracts with teams like Cal Poly and go down there and play them instead of just buying them out so that we can schedule more D-II teams to come and play us at home?Swilly3224 wrote:wbtfg wrote:Swilly3224 wrote:SenorWeezer wrote:I can just hear "The Babby" now <insert whining, crying voice into your head> "Well, "State" was just hitting us sooo hard and their defense must have been cheating 'cause they made us look sooo bad and "State" had that one offensive guy who kept running around us and over us and and and...".
and and and "babby" is still going to the playoffs
How is Kramer doing?

The bottom line is you guys aren't that great and took advantage of a soft schedule to show a good enough record to make the playoffs. Remember, even though you ended up with two losses in conference play, you are third in the tiebreaker. And, not even the top team in Montana!!!!!!
3 outta the last 4 maybe the case...but i got one for you
3 outta the last 20

Too bad we weren't fortunate enough to have Fort Lewis college of the Deaf and Blind on our schedule this year.

That is true, 3 of the last 20, however, only one of those matters up until next year.
Streaks are impressive but they only mean that you have won a single game several years in a row. Streaks are demoralizing, but at this point, your streak of 16 in a row means absolutely nothing.

You're right about one thing. As much as I love the feeling of the Cat/Griz game, for us Bobcat fans it's no longer enough JUST to beat you. We feel the program is taking steps toward being a regular participant in the playoffs and eventually compete for the national championship.
That being said, we probably need to realize the politics involved in what the selection committee wants to see.
I think we came into this year confident in the team that we had. And, we were talented enough to probably beat just about every team that we faced if we were playing to our capability. But, we didn't do that week in and week out. As much crap as I give the Griz fans for scheduling softer competition, I appreciate the strategy.

I think what is most amusing to me, as a GRiz fan, is the feeling which pervades most in Grizland that the Cats will be a joke next year without Lulay. They think that Travis was a one-team, and the Cats will never be any good without him.
No Griz fans knows anything about the Bobcat back-up QB who will start next year. However, I would be willing to bet right now that he will be a better QB than either Berquist or Washington.
What eludes most Griz fans, is the fact that MSU has regained the momentum in recruiting Montana kids, and they taken control of the Griz/Cat series. Things are not the same as the Griz enjoyed for a decade and a half. Yet, most Griz fans are in a continuing state of denial about this.
Their poo-pooing of the Desin commitment is a typical example. I have been told by a Billings West assistant coach that both Desin and Selle are better than any QBs to come out of Montana since Brady Leaf. He feels that both will be VERY GOOD IAA QBs, and thinks that they both may be able to even play at the IAA level. This was a big get for the Cats, even though no Griz fan will admit it. I'm sure Desin will make them eat their words many times in the next few years. They say he's "too short". Seems like I remember hearing the same about another small QB from Great Falls a few years ago.

...or promote the o cooridnator to head coach...can you hear the bitching about that choice..Robcat wrote:Rumor has it, and bets are flowing around the Billings area, that when the Griz season is done, in my opinion after this Saturday, Hauck will be moving on to a D1 school. I find this hard to believe, but it is a fairly reliable source. I hope the Griz keep him for the next 10 years.

Listen, JW and Berquist are not the right QB's for UM, there is no denying that! But when you sit here and tell me that Lulay wasnt a one man team.....seriously, when your QB is your leading rusher and your punter and the best QB to ever play at MSU, there is no debate that Travis wasnt a one man team.
That was a pussy foot move that you did to mess up the field to slow down Lex. See ya in the playoffs....

Now don't be so quick to fault the schedule for the Griz making the playoffs and the Cats not...Your team was a scant 1-4 on the road with 2 humiliating losses by 20+ pts. While I will give you ALL the credit for beating the Griz, at your place, please remember that the Griz lost 3 games this year, 1 to BCS ranked Oregon whose only loss was to USC, 1 to Big Sky Champion Eastern Washington, and 1 to your fine team...
The Cats lost to an inferior OSU team (in spite of 1 good half against Texas), 1 humiliating defeat at Cal Poly, 1 humiliating defeat at EWU and 1 frustrating loss to 5th place Portland State...
Take out the Fort Lewis game and the Griz go 7-3...Cats are 7-4. Now, had you beaten Portland State, you would be in the playoffs and this would be a moot point...
Sorry you didn't make it, but it isn't UM's fault...and you didn't earn the right to play in the postseason by virtue of winning 1 rivalry game.

Well that argument makes sense...catamaran wrote:I don't know how many people are blaming the Griz for MSU not making the playoffs. But don't fool yourself by thinking that the Griz would be there if they were still playing in a venue like Dornblaser and not in WA-Griz. By virtues of the tie breakers, the Griz finished 3rd in the conference

Using that logic, the Cats should be in then, as they finished 2nd in the BSC and in the top 10 in the country in attendance...Better make a call then...
